| Get your own dumpster and put it in front of his house. |
+1 This is a brilliant idea! If they have proof that it was you, just say that you assumed it was a neighborhood dumpster and he was giving you all the go ahead to use it, since he chose to park it elsewhere in the neighborhood versus outside his own house. |
| I live in a DC row house and the house next to me just went through a gut renovation. There was a dumpster in front of my house for a few months. The parking was shut down in front of three houses because row houses are narrow, dumpsters are big, and you do need space to move them in and out. It never occurred to me to be annoyed by this. A dumpster is a necessity for a renovation and it will only last a few months. Sure, it was annoying but I might want to renovate my house someday and will have to do the same thing. That’s city living. |
Wasn't it annoying having people trek trash all over your property constantly to throw it into the dumpster? And why wouldn't you put it in front of your own house? |
DC rowhouses are much narrower than the space that a dumpster takes up if you include the space that needs to be left free to access the dumpster and get a truck in to empty it. The space in front of three row houses was effectively blocked off. It’s not like my neighbor was parking in front of his house and putting a dumpster in front of mine. No one was trekking over my property. The workers took debris out the front door of the house being renovated, walked onto the sidewalk and over to the dumpster. My property doesn’t extend to the sidewalk or beyond. I imagine that this is also what is going on with the OP. There is only so much space in front of a row house. |

| Your post is misleading because he did give warning. Secondly, the dumpster is not hurting you in any way. Get over it |
| Oh man, I would be decluttering like a maniac. |
|
Is it possible he also thought it would be going right in front of his house and only realized once it arrived it would need to be positioned elsewhere to make room for the debris coming out of the house to go in it?
It may be this is just one of those things with row houses. |
| Park in front of his house and declutter this month. |
Made me laugh out loud! Seriously- sometimes, it's best to let stuff slide, I'd probably be a bit irked but would let it go. In the big picture, renovations will help neighborhood values... |
+1000 When life hands you lemons make lemonade. Free dumpster, Op! Time to do some house cleaning and if you have any large tree limbs to take down you won't have to take them too far to get rid of them. |
| Honestly he has the right to do it since you don’t own the street. That’s city premium. The renovation will hopefully make housing value go up. |
| Massive de-clutter, for sure |
They live in a row house- how many large tree limbs are they likely to have?
