Neighbor put huge dumpster in front of my house with no warning

It’s a month.

It would have been nice of the neighbor to discuss with you before they did it, but they didn’t.

Is this really that big of a deal?

My neighbor did something similar. Yes, why should I have to look at their trash from my bedroom while their view is unobstructed?

Most of you are absolutely horrible! Sure it sucks, but all of you may need to get some work done on your home at some point and may need your neighbor to be "neighborly" I am so glad I do not live next to people like you! My neighbors are so kind about things like this. Those dumpsters do need space to load. Also if you block it then the driver will not have room to remove it, so you will end up having it in front of your house longer than a month! Some of you are why I can't see ever moving from our current home. I would die if I had to live amongst such mean-spirited, petty neighbors like some of you!

Do you own the view and street

I would ask him more about that with genuine curiosity and see if you can problem solve. If you understood more about his concern with cleaning up the debris perhaps you could come up with a solution that would work for both of you.

You probably don't live in DC. The spot in front of the neighbor is usually also blocked off, because that's the space used to maneuver to get things into the dumpster. So it's not like there is a free parking space in front of the neighbor. IME, there is a fence put up in the neighbor's spot to keep cars from parking there.

If it's a DC renovation, it's probably still going on.

A neighbor of mine did this to me a few years ago. I also had to clean up the debris that was spilling over. I felt if I hadn’t I may have received a ticket. This neighbor is very rude and arrogant. I called the number that was listed on the dumpster and was told there’s was no other place to leave it. The owner should have held a space in front of his own house to secure a space. Some neighbors are so mean, nasty and only think of themselves. I had a cousin who brought a house many years ago in Georgia. Her home was very far from neighbors.

It’s been revived throughout the years.

If the dumpster is still there at this point, OP is right to complain.

Time for the basement/attic clean out.

Sorry, English is not my first language, what would both of these suggestions do?

That's our view when we look out of our window every day. He never asked us if it was alright. We live on a residential street out in the country with several homes on our street. I would think that would be illegal.

I cannot for the life of me see how this bothers you. It's not on your property. It's not affecting you except that you can GASP! see it

If everyone felt like this, there would be no HOAs.

What if OP stood buck naked in his front room window?

What if OP hung a big banner on his house that said something with which you vehemently disagree?

What if OP painted his house neon green?

I expect you have limits. So does OP. Did you read that his neighbor is not using the dumpster for construction, but simply as a very large trash can?

How long would you be cool with that?

HOAs explicitly address this?

It means they should avail themselves of the opportunity to clean out junk that has been sitting around and put it in the neighbor's dumpster.
