Farrakhan Speaker Concludes Anti-Semitic Remarks with "Jews are Termites" at Trayon Support Rally

The vast majority of DC is comprised of liberals, and particularly DC officials, who portend to object to bigotry. Why then is there such silence when BLATANTLY anti-Semitic speech (termites? really?) is put forth? Is antisemitism "an OK" form of bigotry?

Lopez....OUT! White....RESIGN! And the DC Council, along width severing all ties to Farrakhan, should issue apologies to the Jewish people and ensure them that such bigotry will not be tolerated in our city.

Ain’t nobody rushing to defend that fool who grabbed the bullhorn because his conduct and remarks were reprehensible. Nobody condones that. The silence in and of itself is a rebuke and DCUM posters have for all intents and purposes said, “He’s all yours...we’re not speaking out in his defense”, so you got free reign to tear him up to your hearts content.
Now if that’s not sufficient and if what you really want is another 40+ page drawn out debate then it’s simple - just follow the example of some of the posters from the other thread and try to turn this into an indictment on the people of Ward 8 specifically or try to make this a condemnation of all black Washingtonians in general. If you looking for some heated discussion go ‘head and break out the sweeping generalizations on entire communities because of one uninvited jackass’s antics and the punk ass politician who let him speak.

I understand what you're saying. But, as a Jewish-adjacent person (spouse, child & in laws are Jewish), it's hard for me to contextualize this outbreak of antisemitic language by some Black people. What I think is happening is that anti-semitic language is a rhetorical thing among Nation of Islam that is spreading on the internet. The black community as a whole generally viewed NOI's anti-semitism as something embarassing but irrelevant; plus the general respect for the actual good things NOI have done. But with actual anti-semitism rising globally, and the internet spreading anti-semitic ideas to the black community, I don't see it as tenable to just brush of NOI's anti-semitism. To hear my child called "a termite" is just chilling ... I agree w you that this shouldnt't become an excuse to pile on all of Ward 8; but I still feel like it has to be addressed seriously.

I wholeheartedly agree it needs to be addressed as the true “brush off” is being committed by politicians and organizations who are solely fixated on their selfish personal agendas - it’s NOT being committed by the citizens in Ward 8. If anything they are being hoodwinked by these charlatans in office and their cagey cohorts into being a buffer for their bigotry and that’s what worries me is that yet another negative stereotype will wind up being attributed to Ward 8 residents who already are saddled with poverty, violence, unemployment, failing schools, and fledgling resources. Adding antisemitism to the list is not going to make their lives any easier.

I was searching for childcare years ago, and the CHILD center on Riggs road is near, but after researching them and finding out their connections to NOI, Positive Kimetic Visions, and the Nawaupian movement (which I never had knowledge about before), it was really troubling. I just don’t know how they would treat non-African American children there. Honestly, I wouldn’t have put my child in there care for other reasons, but I was amazed at what I found out about them.

And although I know we can't force private groups, such as this PKV, from warmly embracing anti-Semites, and, unfortunately, poisoning young minds, the very fact the DC Council has an openly blatant anti-Semite among its ranks - and seems to be OK with him remaining - does enable this private groups to advance their anti-Jew rhetoric too.

Still the OP, and I am emphasizing my own line above. This is why it is critical for the DC Council to take a firm stand and fire Lopez and pressure White to resign for their failure to condemn blatant anti-Semitism, and in doing so, reveal their own. Otherwise, we have tacit acceptance of anti-Semitism among DC public officials - and bigoted organizations like PKV and NOI will take it as a little "wink" to continue with their anti-white and anti-Jew bigotry.

OP. Yes, and that is why DC has to disavow all organizations that host anti-Semites (and anti-whites) by withholding all funds. Otherwise, Jews, and all other decent people, are being asked to provide support to the very bigots who call them Jewish people "termites" and other equally hateful terms.
