Recent Ballston Tragedy - why is no one talking about this?!

It seems odd that there’s no mention of the little boy’s mother.

Case Search in Maryland has some interesting crime/custody issues against the victim and baby momma. My guess it was a hit job due to the custody as baby momma changed the name of the child to her last name in 2016.

I don't understand this. She changed the name of the child to her last name? The child didn't have the name of the father?

Probably a suspect.

I'm going to guess that his family and the police have a good idea what happened. The news story said his family couldn't reach him on ONE day. The sister went over and broke in because she couldn't reach him one evening. No one does that so quickly unless they are worried about someone's well-being.

I'm having trouble following all the cases in Case Search (not a lawyer) but it looks to me like the name was changed from the Baby Mama's name to the dad's. Somewhere along the way, it looked like her husband was declared to be the legal father, then that was thrown out, Giandoni was declared the biological father, and then the kid's name was changed to his. I can't tell if he had full custody or not.

The court information is fascinating and I agree the homicide was likely related to custody issues. So sad.

^^ ETA the kid seems to be hanging out with the dad's family so my guess is he had full custody.

Dag, it looks like the mother was still married to someone else when she had the baby, and her husband was originally list as the child's father...

Not just that the kid was given a different last name by the mother, but a whole (first middle last) name and then it was legally changed by the court to a completely different whole (first middle last) name with the murder victims last name.

Wow. That's crazy. So, her husband could have been involved in the murder as well. I'm sure he was none too pleased that his wife had a child with another man.

Looks like the mother and her husband (not the child’s father) divorced in January 2017.

Where did you get this?

Was that thread about red herrings here in Off Topic? the whole custody thing could be a red herring here.

I found it too, in the Maryland court search. Just look up the name.

Is it normal to change the kids name? Would that mean the dad had custody?

And a side note, it's so very sad how long it takes for custody and paternity to be decided in the courts. It took such a long time for the dad to be declared the father. I hope it didnt keep him from seeing his son during that time.

I think the dad had primary custody.
