it depends. my bro is one, but he has seen WAY too many people at midlevel googlers/microsofties/amazonians who feel trapped at having to come to work everday because their wife is at home riding on them.

He wouldn't care if you wanted to sahm if you were willing to take a huge hit on material things...i.e., he's not going to be a pack-mule for you.

I think what PP means is that it's better to have a healthy marriage with someone you actually like and care about than to have a marriage based on money and raising kids. Obviously raising kids as a divorced or single parent is better than raising them in a home where marriage is a transaction.

I said the ones who would be the most enthusiastic about this kind of setup (that is, more traditional guys) marry up early. They're not available in large numbers and for the taking for women in their 30s, unless the woman is exceptionally high value.
