9-year-old Won't Wear Jeans

Hanna Andersson makes adorable leggings and tunics. How about that?

I was going to suggest Hanna Andersson as well. Their clothes really hold up and they have been wearing their soft, warm comfy pants for years. This is the first year ( out of three) that we may have to retire them.

Btw, my 15 and 18 year olds have hated jeans for a long time!

It's not what I wanted to hear (obviously) but thanks for the reality check.

My son (and a few others that know) hate to hear "button" pants. That includes jeans, khaki's and dress pants. He lives in elastic waist band clothes- athletic wear is our friend. I don't and won't fight him on this issue b/c I hate them too.

My boys only want to wear sweatpants with elastic waist bands. I hate them. I hate that look. I try talking them into jeans every school year, but no luck. Athletic pants it is. *sigh*

My 12 year old would only wear leggings for YEARS. Then last year she started to wear jeggings/skinny jeans more. Try Justice. They have very soft jeggings and jeans, some that are pull-ons too. Its not my favorite store but its great for basics.

My 10 year old also won't wear jeans or chinos or anything similar. We also do yoga pants, although I have trouble finding ones that are skinny enough (wish Lands End made them in slim!), and leggings.
I am constantly on the lookout for tunic tops that don't look baby-ish...if anyone has any great suggestions, please let me know! We picked up a couple cute ones at Lands End this past season, but most of them looked more early elementary than middle school (rainbows, zebras, etc...).

My 40 year old brother has always hated jeans. Never wore them as a kid and doesn't wear them as an adult.

This is not just your daughter. Denim is a fading trend among young people in general. Atheleisure is all they want now. Just give me to the yoga pants, and sweats. Most kids stop wearing Jeans in elementary school. They may start again in high school, or not.

I meant give in.

I have a 10y old that hasn't worn jeans for 8+ years. He hates them. He survives in athletic pants and uniform pants (which he would much rather wear than jeans when he needs to look nicer on the weekend.) I gave up this fight long ago.

I'm 38 years old and have never worn jeans... well, maybe as a toddler when it was up to my parents but definitely not once I could vocalize how much I hate them. Skirts and dresses my whole life, I did buy a pair of pants at banana last year but have only worn them twice.

This is very mature of you, OP. I'm proud of you. I know it's hard - I thought my daughter looked like a slob for years. Last year she had a big presentation day that all the parents came to, and I saw some other girls in skirts and dresses. When I said something to DD about her jeans and t-shirt she said, "Hey, these jeans don't have ANY holes, and I picked a t-shirt that still had creases from being folded." So she dressed up for HER. I get it. Taking little girls clothing shopping is fun. Taking bigger girls who have opinions clothing shopping is work.

I LOVE the swish sound of corduroy pants!

Tea Collection has some pull-on jeans and pants for girls that are very cute. We've also found elastic waistband jeans at Old Navy and the Gap.

Both my 7 and 9 years old DDs hate jeans and always have.

They both wear pants with elastic waists. I'm fine with it.

In fact, I noticed a lot of her classmates don't neccessarily wear jeans either.
