| My son likes sugary cereal, so we fill 3/4 of his bowl with Cheerios & the other part with the sugary crap. |
| Many good ideas here. As a recovering sugar cereal addict, my favorite breakfast is a toasted whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter and banana. You still get the sugar fix but there is protein and fiber, too (I now use natural pb which is even healthier bc there is no added sugar, but you may want to start with skippy). I also will say there are a lot better cereal choices than when we were kids - many cereals give a sugary taste but also give a good amount of fiber and protein - the frosted mini wheats was a good idea, also quaker oat squares and kashi heart to heart - add milk and a side of fruit and that is a good breakfast. |

Protein pancakes. You can make the batter for him (or make the pancakes) on the weekend, he can heat in the microwave and spread with his favorite jam or preserves or add fresh berries on top.
Equal parts: Egg whites (you could separate yourself or I somethimes buy a carton of egg whites) Cottage cheese Steel cut oats Blend in blender until smooth. Stir in a little vanilla extract. Cook as you would normal pancakes. They are delicious and filling. |

Being a busy working mom, here is what I do for my kids. They are responsible for their own breakfast ( ages 9 & 6). On Sunday nights we make breakfast burritos. They pick what they want in it. My big guy has a 2 egg burrito, my little guy a 1 egg in a smaller flour tortilla. They get to pick what they want in them. Normally it is bacon, egg and cheese.
I cook the ingredients, wrap it up tightly in the burrito, toast it in the sandwich maker (helps burrito stay together) l wrap it in parchment paper and then tin foil, label and put in the fridge. I do about 3 days worth at a time. They microwave them to warm them up in the mornings and I alway have a bowl of fresh mixed fruit in the fridge ready to scoop. Super easy for me and them and fills them up. |

| baked oatmeal can be sugary but healthy, top with PB for more protein. Mix with chia seeds and hemp seeds for more protein and you can't even tell they are in there. |
| Oatmeal with raisins, brown sugar, and a big scoop of pb |
| Buy a bunch of cold cuts and let him have a sandwich. |

I agree with the poster that says these options likely will not appeal toa kid eating sugar cereal.
Have you tried go lean crunch or other go lean cereal. Sugary, but high protein. Or a bar like the cliff bars for kids with protein. Has sugar, but also has protein and calcium. I would also try some prepackaged breakfast sandwiches ( or homemade and frozen) that he can just microwave. Just to see if he would like them. But your best bet may be something sweet that also has protein |
| Smoothie? Milk or nut milk, PB or almond butter, fruit if he wants, spinach, protein powder.... endless possibilities and no cooking |
Are you guys serious? OP asked for something to replace sugary cereal. Besides, the Miniwheats-protein thing has been debunked. Weren't they fined for false advertising? |
Greek yogurt (or any yogurt but Green yogurt does have more protein) layered with granola and left in the fridge over night -- delish. |
GREEK yogurt. Green yogurt goes with the green eggs and ham. Sorry. |
Actually, I interpreted her post as asking for breakfast ideas with more protein because her stepson is eating sugar cereals with no nutritional value. For someone who is used to eating lucky charms for breakfast, he is unlikely to want plain cream of wheat or eggs. Frosted mini wheats, kashi go lean, kashi heart to heart all have a sweet taste but also contain fiber and protein. I think those cereals with skin milk and fruit are a good start to one's day. |
| A few (like 3-4) peanut butter on cracker sandwiches and a double chocolate slimfast shake works for me. |
