Men don't really prefer younger women

Do you understand how tinder works? You can swipe left on absolutely anyone, and you only "match" with them if they also swipe left on you.
There's not as many options for same sex pairings, so I am more liberal with my swiping, and swipe left on anyone I find attractive.

However, once I match with 18 year olds, I am always creeped out by how very young they look, especially further going through their pics.

OP here. I was just examining the trope that all rich and powerful men want and lust after nubile young 21 year olds. I'm trying to say that even most men find young girls very attractive, the logistics of life and society and interpersonal chemistry do not always arrange for a partnership between an older powerful male and a young attractive girl. Many powerful men build lasting relationships with women closer to their own age.

Oh I agree with you, I just feel that it works both ways. I don't think there is a preference in either direction. It might be skewed a bit because many of these men marry young to begin with if they divorced and remarried now it's hard to say they wouldn't pick a younger woman. Clooney is a great example of that. Either way plenty of people marry within their respective age range. But there are outliers on either side

That's fair. I think generally when people remarry there is less of a chance that they will be able to find partners their own age. Or, of course, men, especially actively choose to marry much younger if they want children.

Even women can remarry younger men however.

Take Katie Couric for example.

This just seems like a lot of work to deny a sort of basic reality. Showing lots of examples of outside cases or unusual set ups does not prove that the opposite is not the norm.

I mean, how many cases of "younger woman sleeps with married man and breaks up his marriage" have we all seen, both in our own lives and in the celebrity atmosphere. Guys seem to be attracted to the basic simplicity of a relationship with a younger woman -- there is less of a challenge to their status as "master" in a lot of cases, since the guy has so much more life experience (and probably money). At the same time, the younger woman has cache in desirable physical attractiveness, and even a certain naive attitude toward the relationship itself.

Ben Affleck with the babysitter. Robin Williams with his successive new wives. Hugh (gag) Heffner. Johnny Carson and all of his wives. Younger seems easier, though in actuality it isn't always.
