Men don't really prefer younger women

As you can see, a man, as he gets older, searches for relatively younger and younger women. Meanwhile his upper acceptable limit hovers only a token amount above his own age. a man, as he gets older, searches for relatively younger and younger womenThe median 31 year-old guy, for example, sets his allowable match age range from 22 to 35—nine years younger, but only four years older, than himself. This skewed mindset worsens with age; the median 42 year-old will accept a woman up to fifteen years younger, but no more than three years older.

This second chart also contains something very peculiar that we didn't see at all in men. Notice the vertical stripes at ages 20 and 29. These color discontinuities indicate dramatic changes in a woman's dating mentality: when a women turns 20 she decides it's okay to message significantly older men (i.e. the upper reaches of the chart suddenly become less red). At 29, a woman becomes even more open to older men and, in addition, stops writing the youngest ones. The typical 28 year-old women sends a small but significant number of messages to men too young to drink. The typical 29 year-old sends practically none.

you can see that a woman of 31 is already "past her prime," while a man doesn't become so until 36. As we mentioned above, after age 26, a man has more potential matches than his female counterparts, which is a drastic reversal of the proportion in young adulthood, when women are much more sought-after. Because men's dating preferences skew so young, and women's are age-equitable, men peak later, and have a longer plateau of desirability, than women.

I meet a 34 year old lawyer that is in the peak of his career and has proven himself in big law. He is able to wine and dine me and I enjoy myself while with him. He is not ugly. No way I will date hm, never.

I want the be with the law student who I don't know whether will be able to get a third year internship yet and still has not paid off his student loans. But he is hot hot hot.

I would date the law student, but I am definitely not going to reject the 34 year old either. And life in a way would be much easier if I picked the lawyer eventually to marry, we won't be two first year lawyers out of school struggling to prove ourselves at the same time.

I am a 28 year old female and i WAS pursued by a 34 year old big time lawyer. He was...so socially awkward. He made a lot of money and tried to impress me with it. I dumped him on date 3.

I am now married to a 27 year old guy who makes about 50k.

Sometimes I DO wish I married rich but I wasn't able to meet rich guys who also had compatible personalities with me.

It was SO bad. I did not understand it. If I was 34 and had as much money as he did, I don't think I would be as socially awkward or as desperate. He was SO desperate. It's like his biological clock was ticking and he felt the only thing he had to offer me was his $$.

I DO want a provider and a guy who makes good money but, I can tell you, I would not be able to marry someone just for the $$$.

I'm sure the same applies to men. They may find a hot 24 year old but if they aren't compatible with her, no amount of perky boobs can make them stay.

2014 Finnish study of 12,000 daters:

http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2014-09/aof-tia092514.php

To study this pattern in terms of preferences with regard to the partner's age the scientists gathered observations from a population-based sample of more than 12,000 Finns and found that women, on average, are interested in same-aged to somewhat older men than themselves and that this pattern displays itself across the entire life-span. Men, on the other hand, show a tendency to be sexually interested in women in their mid-twenties. This tendency is also notable when the men themselves are younger or older than this. Men younger than 20 prefer women older than themselves, while men older than 30 prefer women younger than themselves. The reason for why men's sexual interest seems directed towards women in their mid-20s is likely because women of this age are the most fertile. This means that in our evolutionary past, men who have had sex with women in their mid-20s have had more offspring than other men. This study shows that in terms of sexuality evolution has favored differences in female and male psychology.

Another personal crush and and desirable male was the late U.S. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke. A Washington favorite known as the most connected man in town, he literally had access to so many nubile young female Washington interns and congressional staffers. Instead, he had storied love affairs with smart and powerful women in Washington, ranging from Diane Sawyer to his window, Cati Marton.

OP. I'm glad that you started this thread. I was a great admirer of Richard Holbrooke's accomplishments in foreign policy not least of which was his important contribution to ending the war in Bosnia. But, I have to tell you, if Holbrooke is your "personal crush," you have been living in the Beltway Bubble too long!

They don't always cheat on much younger women. Sometimes the women are young.Sometimes they're the same age. Sometimes they;re older.

My ex's both cheated with older, less attractive women.

Mine too (he was older, I was 22). I was heartbroken and never really got over the whole experience. He is very happy with her many years later, I doubt he would be that happy with me.

It's a hell of a lot easier to get someone more relaxed in social settings than it is to bump that 50k to 200k.

He made a lot of money, you dumped him and now you DO wish you had married rich. LOL

Blech. There is no money in the world that would make that worth it for me.

I cant stand socially awkward types, and it seems to happen more in men

If you had tried to stay with him I'm sure you would have been so disatsified and ended up cheating on him anyway, just out of sheer boredom and frustration

Those relationships are doomed.

Xanax is highly addictive and one of the only drugs where the withdrawal can kill you.

It's fun, but not worth it.

Ok, some men will marry older women who look for their age. Big whoopie. This is why the plastic surgery, botox, and beauty industry makes so much every year.
