There are five second grade classroom teachers. So maybe 80-100 in the second grade class?

Do these include the kids with sibling preference? Or are they on a different list? i.e. if 20 kids have sibling preference are they numbers 1-20 or are 1-20 kids who do not have preference?

That is a good question :i hope they are the numbers one to twenty on the waitlist. That will surely push back the results. I hope a parent can give us insight.

I called and asked.. if your number appears on the raw data spreadsheet you are on the wait list. My daughter it low(teens) for Spanish Immersion but high for french... When we did charter and searched our number it didn't show up at all on the spreadsheet and we had a letter in the mail that day. Hope this helps.

I say to the parent with 84 or the 80's hold out for your spot at the TAG schools instead of signing that contract for private and getting locked into it. Based on what the parents are saying. If there are no second grade students and they have four to five classes they should take at least 85 to 86 kids. Hoping that includes siblings having the lowest numbers. I worked in DC and the siblings in the lottery had the low numbers such as 1 to 20. Hopefully pg does the same. you may need the money in middle or high school.

I am sure you are correct for Charter School Lottery but the Specialty School Lottery information states something different:

"The lottery determined the order of placements among applicants and the “raw” results for all applications are presented in the PDF below. The “raw” results are the lottery results before any placement offers are extended"

I guess this is where I get confused...

The search results are "live" and reflect the continuously updated Charter Wait List number as placement offers are made and accepted. Placement offers and accepted placements are not shown in the results. You will be contacted via US Postal Mail or the email address provided in your application if a seat becomes available.

The same says for Specialty

Offers haven't gone out yet. They go out next week. "Placement offers and acceptances won't be shown in the results" means next week, when you get an offer letter and you accept the spot, the school won't go online and adjust the raw data for us all to see.

Why is the process so different for the different lotteries?

I've been searching for a thread on the glenarden woods lottery. So happy to see this one. Does anyone know what a wait list #42 at glenarden woods actually means? Does it mean that they have already assigned students to fill the spots and the wait listed students are offered seats in the order of their number.... OR... does it mean that based on the number of spots the school has, the students will be assigned seats based on their number on the wait list?

I'm used to a traditional lottery where wait list means you only get a seat if those in front of you don't enroll. The boundary office said that #42 means if the school has 42 open spots - my child will get a spot.

If anyone can help provide clarity, please do!

Good luck to everyone with the lottery results.

My understanding of the text above the raw data is that they have not already assigned students to fill the spots. The wait list is really just the master list. The schools are right now figuring out how many spots to offer to families on the master list. Letters and emails will go out next week. If there are 42 open spots at Glenarden Woods for your grade, then you should get an acceptance letter. If there are fewer than 42 spots, you will get a wait list letter.
