Wow, thank you guys so much. I have a pretty thick skin and figured I was setting myself up for some insults, at the very least of the "Troll!" or "Attention Whore!" variety, but everyone's being so nice. Really, thank you. *warm fuzzies*
This morning, 187.2. My weight fluctuates within a 15-pound range, and I'm at the high end of that right now. I feel much more comfortable around 175. The comments are making me think that body proportion and how your clothes fit has a lot to do with whether a person looks heavy. When I stand next to my petite friends, I look enormous and you wouldn't have any trouble believing I'm overweight. But out of context, by myself, I guess I look fine. For instance, the boots are wide-calf, so I don't look crammed into them.
I also used to be a 22/24 (I had gastric bypass surgery), and I sometimes wonder if I'm more confident about my current size than a lot of my non-plus-size peers because I've been to the other side and know how far I've come. I hope you're proud of how much weight you've lost! (But I have jiggly loose skin on my thighs so I avoid thin pants, as well. The thickness of jeans is like a built-in girdle.)
Look for wide-calf boots! Yeah, it's kind of a blow to the self-esteem, but whatever, everything just looks better if it fits properly.
Boots: Alfani Jessa wide-calf boots from Macy's -- http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/alfani-womens-shoes-jessa-wide-calf-tall-riding-boots?ID=716015&CategoryID=31917#fn=BRAND%3DAlfani%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D1%26ruleId%3D22%26slotId%3D1 The jeans are from Metrostyle, 14 Tall. I got them a couple years ago, but I think these are the same ones, just not in black -- http://www.metrostyle.com/item/40392/500622/modern-fit-skinny-jean-misses |
| So cute OP! |
| Let's see the back. |
You have issues, too. |
OP you look good and I admit I am one of the PPs on another thread who said skinny jeans don't look good on most people. With that type of outfit & shirt it looks good on you. And 185 is not a lot for a 5'10" person IMO nor would I have imagined that wss your weight, you look skinnier. Carry on
|
| I don't think 185 for someone who's 5'10" is a lot. That's a reasonable weight. And you look great in your skinny jeans! |
As a fat lady: If you're fat, you're fat. Refusing to wear leggings and a tunic shirt isn't going to hide the fact that you are fat. The issue is whether the look flatters what you have or not. Fat ladies wear flaired shirts because it emphasizes a smaller waist. It's more flattering. I refuse to wear sack-cloth and ashes simply because I'm fat. As far as leggings go, it completely depends on how they look on you. They can look just fine on some fat ladies and terrible on others. I've seen terrible leggings on skinny college age girls, too. |
| You look great OP |
Oh honey, just because they're not a size 2 like you doesn't make them obese. Grow up. |
No, I don't actually. OP asked what people thought, and there will be a variety of opinions. I am defending the PP from you, who automatically thinks that anyone who tells the truth about weight "has issues." |
Actually, they ARE obese. Honey. |
| Where do you find wide calf boots ? |
| You look great OP, love the boots. |
|
You make a lot of assumptions. I think that PP has issues because she is talking about not wearing "fat lady" looks. She makes it sound like a tunic shirt or a shirt that flairs at the hips is a freakin' mumu. She has issues. I say that you have issues because you are super-sensitive and jump to assumptions. |
