So you drink a margarita in a steakhouse? At a sushi place? It's really your drink of choice? How embarrassing for you. |
| Vodka tonic when I'm at a business function. Beer when I'm out on the weekend. Agree that I would never order a "girly" drink while out with business associates. |
I'm trying to picture how to order that at a partner's meeting. First, I don't drink those, because it's an insult to the margarita....but if I did, how would I say infront of the other partners after they order their scotch "tee hee! I'd like a skinny girl margarita please, tee hee" Maybe after Samantha and Carrie can go shopping with me! Oh boy! |

I'm sorry but since when did all the "powerful women" on here decide that women suck and pretend to be a man?
You hit like a girl, you scream like a girl, stop being such a girl, don't order a "girly" drink Wow! I actually am proud to be a girl, and I don't mind drinking like a girl What ever happened to girls rule!? |
Are you 12? |
If you ordered a Pina Colada anywhere, other than a Caribbean beach, I would think you're childish. It has nothing to do with drinking like a man. It has everything to do with acting like a grown-up and not acting like you're attending a college party. |

No, I am 35, and I am a female. I am not ashamed to order a "girly" drink around men, I am a woman and I am not going to pretend to like a drink just so that a man or a group of men will be impressed.
I have been around women like you and it is really sad to think you have such a low self esteem as to be worried about impressing people on such stupid things -and for the record I always drink gin and tonic, no matter where I am or who I am drinking with - But, I really think the people that are with you, or hiring you, or whatever, would rather you get a drink you like than pretend you like some you don't. |
| Depends on the situation, but usually red wine, a good beer or Grey Goose on the rocks with a twist. |
| Red wine (shiraz) or mojito. |
You are really reading between the lines. No one said this. And no one said anything about drinking like a man, until you brought it up. |
Actually, I don't do anything like a girl or a man. I dress like a woman. I drink like a woman. When I'm at a meeting, I'm not at the beach, nor am I at a meeting of the "girls club." They know I'm a woman, but I don't have a pink drink with lots of fruit either. Grow up and maybe the people around you will see you as an equal - and won't give a shit what you are drinking. |

My DH loves margaritas. So yes, he orders them wherever - Mexican, Sushi, Steakhouse...
I love Pina Colada's. And Strawberry Daiquiris. I don't care what you think of my drink selection. I don't find wine drinkers to be more sophisticated than margarita drinkers. Ones that think they are more sophisticated are called snobs. I will not "drink like a man" when I'm at a business function. I do not drink at all during these functions because men read into women that drink and what their drink choices are. So I'd rather be known as the uptight bitch behind closed doors than the party girl or wine snob. |
| Grey Goose and Cranberry. |
Yikes. I'm pretty sure you don't attend any "business functions." |

I see people who order vodka as people who want to get buzzed but don't like the taste of alcohol.
I think people who only like sweet drinks come across as unsophisticated. I'm not saying that's fair. I'm not saying you shouldn't order what you want. But the OP seems interested in her image, so she should know. And I think there are frat boy drinks that are a sort of counter to girly drinks (Long Islands tea, anything with Jaermeister, etc.) If you drink a lot of red wine at one sitting, your teeth and lips will be stained even if you've metabolized it. Not a good look. |
