SFS's liability will hinge on whether they had a reason to know that their employee was negligent. Sounds like they did since he (the Dad) told them. Prediction: Sidwell will have to settle quietly. Everyone involved will have been suitably embarrassed. That's probably all he really wants.

Nightmare? The "Duff/Perelman" divorce? You need a life. Aside from those of you who take great pleasure in the drama of some supposed DC high society, nobody really gives a s#@*. Get over yourself.

You came to this website and sorted through many posts, settled on this one, read through the responses, thought about it and responded thus. Because you have such a busy and more enlightened "life"--you get to tell others what is really important. I guess we're all lucky that you have such a "life" to instruct us with here. Gosh, thank you, PP!

You're so eloquent. If you don't give a s__t why are responding here? Go away.

This is your description of a "nice family?" Oh dear god....

Back to the issue of "settling quietly." I guess they can always raise the tuition again to pay this one off?

You bet. Cost of doing business, etc. Assuming a judge will even hear this suit--which is remotely possible depending on the federal judge-- Hey, Alsie Hastings, is he still around?! --the legal fees just to get to settlement could be staggering. Definitely no good guys here.

Hard to believe a local reporter wouldn't know it's called Sidwell Friends School, not academy.
Not to nitpick but the article does say school. The OP used the word academy.
Actually, no; the article used the word "Academy". That was weird. There were also typos in the article. Gosh, I am so shocked from a blog of the caliber of the Washington Times! :P
No, actually, it was the Washington Examiner, not the Washington Times. You are showing your colors as is the snob who finds it hard to believe that a reporter might not know that it's "School" not "Academy." I imagine that the tuition at Sidwell compares nicely to a beat reporter's salary. Forgive them if they made a mistake; we know that none of you do.

Someone hinted about this scandal about a year ago - and we all thought it was lie - which would actually be a reasonable assumption considering this is an anonymous forum.

PP here - following is a link to thread that was posted about this in April 2010 long before it became public....

Same PP again - and here is another thread on the topic apparently posted by a Sidwell insider

Lots of hyperbole on those previous posts. This is not the worst thing that has happened at the school and it is certainly not worse than the pedophile scandal. Basically a relationship between two consenting adults. Who cares? Its the father who comes off looking the worst.

Yeah, its embarrassing for the school but thats it. I don't have any direct relationship with Sidwell but I think we have some (one?) over-dramatic posters here.

Yes, I remember that thread. I wrote it off as another nutjob conspiracy theorist. Well, that just goes to prove that not all nutjobs are wrong, I suppose.

Obviously I have nothing to say about the family involved, because it's not my business. But I just wanted to get that out there about nutjobs in general....

Sounds like the guy filing the lawsuit posted those threads to me.

Forget the family, forget the individuals' behavior, the responsibility in this case lies entirely with the Sidwell Friends School. They, along with the psychologist, will be made to pay dearly, quietly and promptly.

The school won't settle. They have already lost everything they can lose because it has become public. The time for settlement is over. Take it to court and see if a judge thinks this case has merit.

This husband is a freak show. Someone in that family needs to stand up and show a little mental stability for the little girl in the middle of the mess.

Its the same poster. The one behind the previous threads, the one who posted the mother's linked page. I agree, i think the father keeps posting here.

Two scandals at Sidwell in the same year and I thought Landon was the only school in the area with this type of baggage. I'm glad my son is at Montgomery County public.

Agreed, the "logic" behind the first statement sounds like the legal brief.
