Sidwell sued over staff psychologist's affair
Forget the family, forget the individuals' behavior, the responsibility in this case lies entirely with the Sidwell Friends School. They, along with the psychologist, will be made to pay dearly, quietly and promptly.
But no one will pay more dearly than the child(ren) raised in a family where the parents are mental. A father who would like to blame a school rather than take responsibility for the damage he has done and a mother who had no problem putting her child in this position.

I agree. I have heard plenty of rumors about the father, and the reasons why his (ex) wife moved back to DC. Suffice it to say, that not only will the lawsuit against the school backfire, but he will come out looking a lot worse than he already does.

I also agree that the Facebook and other DCUM posts were probably the father.

This is quite sad.

Me too, but I'm sure this stuff happens in MoCo and other places. Just that those schools aren't particularly newsworthy.

What a mess. The only decent person is the ex-wife of that creepy Huntington fellow. Given that Huntington was a psychologist, I believe he violated an ethical duty - and the school has some degree of culpability if it did not act on this information for a year.

Here's the angle I'm thinking about... in the post-nup the father probably signed over narrow legal custody solely related to academic choice of where the child attends school... and so at the very least by filing this law suit, the court will probably grant him joint legal custody related to where their daughter attends school and he can pull his daughter from Sidwell. (From the legal papers it didn't sound like either parent or the child was happy with the teacher.)

What teacher is going to perform well with helicopter parents who are constantly performing evalutions on their FIVE year old????

ITA. Especially the second one.

I doubt if the father has ever even heard of DCUM. I hesitate to even call him a father. He's a self-centered snob living in Florida who uses lawyers (no offense intended) to communicate with people.

On the other hand, someone who is at, or was at, Sidwell with an ax to grind about Huntington or the school itself would be a more likely suspect. It's hard to keep something like this under wraps at a school. And I do think that one hand is responsible for many of these posts. Unfortunately, the world is full of vicious people.

That poor little girl.

I feel sorry for that poor little girl. What kind of lousy mother drags her 5-year old along to hotels and exposes her to a raunchy, illicit affair? And what kind of crackerjack psychologist violates professional trust and ethics by sleeping with his young client's mother? It's obvious that those two jerks were more interested in satisfying their "urges" than providing that little girl with the help that she needed.

Just read the court filing. Don't necessarily accept as true. Take the child and his role as a school psychologist out of the picture and it's a different story.

But IF everything is true; the father has the emails to back up everything he alleges; he has proof of discussing the issue with Sidwell; and Sidwell still kept this creep on as a psychologist who was treating the daughter of his mistress with the approval of the school THEN good for the father for alerting the rest of us to Sidwell's true character.

IF he's a lying jilted husband seeking sick revenge, THEN shame on him and heaven help his young children.

But I want to know the truth about Sidwell.

What is also troubling, aside from this whole sad affair, is the court filing which suggested that Huntington had 8th grade girls in his office talking about P.E. teachers hitting on them. I hope to god that's not true, but if it is, Sidwell better take quick and decisive action.

Not to nitpick but the article does say school. The OP used the word academy.
Actually, no; the article used the word "Academy". That was weird. There were also typos in the article. Gosh, I am so shocked from a blog of the caliber of the Washington Times! :P
No, actually, it was the Washington Examiner, not the Washington Times. You are showing your colors as is the snob who finds it hard to believe that a reporter might not know that it's "School" not "Academy." I imagine that the tuition at Sidwell compares nicely to a beat reporter's salary. Forgive them if they made a mistake; we know that none of you do.
If you weren't so quick deride the school you might have known that a large number of its grads had beat reporter parents or would go on to become beat reporters when they graduate.

This always happened when I was there in the early 80's.

A pedophile predator as a teacher. Misogynistic rants by seniors. A putrid sports program. A school employee carrying on an affair with a married parent of a Sidwell student. Now there are allegedly PE teachers hitting on students? Sidwell parents who take shots at schools like Landon may want to look in the mirror. There is no school in the area that has a monopoly on good behavior, it seems.

Said the Georgetown Prep parent.
