How much did your wedding cost?

less than $4K, 65 people, Vegas in 2004

$8K in 1999 for about 70 people in MD. My dress cost $35- it was a simple sheath and made by a family friend who charged me for the fabric only!

How is antigua? My fiance and I decided we're going there to get married to avoid the drama, but don't know anyone who's been there.

(DH here).

No, rings don't count and I assume that is for the band & engagement ring. Either way, wowzer. At least it's something you can enjoy day after day? I wouldn't walk out of the house with 30k on my finger.

Something like 800 bucks total. We had a courthouse wedding and a cute little reception.

These answers are full on shocking.

I'm not judging you for what you spent on your dress, but I just remember when I was dress shopping (back in 1999) and feeling like even spending in the $800 was too much. And now I watch that ridiculous "Say Yes to the Dress" show (to which I am completely addicted, I admit) and see women spending $2000 at a minimum, and it really does make me scratch my head. I guess for me, it's hard to understand spending that much on something you'll wear for a few hours, but it seems like I'm in the minority. I'm not trying to start any wars here, I swear. Different strokes for different folks.

$17K (including the dress, which was only $400) for 70 people in NYC.

$3000 in 2008 in DC (not counting rings or honeymoon). Put down 200k on a house the next week.

Thanks to my wonderful parents!!!

My wedding cost $12,000, and my parents covered about $8000 of that...and they are still wonderful!

Ok cool... Why the jab?

Wow, I also thought there would be much higher figures here, but it seems like the really expensive weddings are the outliers on this list!

$15,000 in 2008, 100 guests

$30K in 2000. Formal dinner for about 80. Oxon Hill Manor. I am surprised by how low some of these numbers are, as I know many that have spent much, much more (and many that have done the destination/elopement route, which I would do now if I were to do it over, which luckily, I don't think I will).

Now that I am thinking about it, that might have included the honeymoon, which was not cheap.

$30,000 reception for 200, early 90s.

French family castle (free - included accommodation for immediate family), dress (cheap), caterer (expensive), flowers (expensive), horse-drawn carriage (free), honeymoon in various parts of France... less than 20K.
