You and your kid may be in wrong sport. Maybe trying basketball??? |
| SAC tournament here, and I am so proud of the kids for playing in the conditions they did! No one complained, kids were laughing at making mud angels at the end. They must have been freezing but they roughed it out and learned how to play a game of soccer where the ball doesn’t move. So tough. Love the tournament spirit and really thankful they didn’t cancel. Also, very happy for today’s turf games! |
Yes there’s a bunch of team from Rhode Island 😬 |
Thais happened in the fall as well. They knew the weather forecast ahead of time (it was a tropical storm) and didn’t care. Had the younger groups play on grass fields and cancelled after one game. |
I think I would preferred a canceled tournament over standing in this miserable rain.
-At Muldoon’s Nah. Glad we played. The fields held up. A little thick, yes, but let’s not be too first worldly. I was wet and sniffling even with a poncho, rain boots, layers, etc. My kiddo had a blast with his mates so let’s not get too bummed out and keep the perspective. Weather is weather and our kids will be better prepared for life in general if we aren’t all divas. If I get stuck in the mud today, I reserve the right to change my answer. 🤣 Be safe at Da ‘Doons |
The Cannon Cup is one of those tournaments for clubs to play their 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th teams. Its not competitive. |

Day 2 not so kind at the Delco Player's Cup. Cancelled just minutes before we were scheduled to kick off in the top flight. Every flight on the 7 fields at this site were cancelled at 9:00 today.
They still got in a majority of the games. |
| All good at the SAC tournament this weekend. We have been on turf fields and will play in the finals tomorrow. |
| Reffed at Virginian this morning. Rain held off, so it wasn't that bad. I did a couple of games elsewhere yesterday -- THAT was miserable. |
All of them are. We’re in Virginian and the top brackets across the board are just another local tournament with one or two middling outside DMV clubs who like to do a Memorial Day tourney. I’ll never understand why Jeff Cup is some sort of March tuneup instead of a mid-May to early June tourney. Just kidding, the clubs have to divide up their piddling cash cow tourneys throughout the year… |

The people who ran the Williamsburg tournament should be ashamed of themselves. They played 1 game Friday night in the u-littles so that they can say they kicked off the tournament so no refunds will be given.
First they delayed the games for 2 hours like the drainage system was going to do anything after 2 extra hours of rain falling on it then an hour before the first games were to kickoff they cancelled the whole thing. People fighting to get their money back form hotels and other places, they clearly knew this storm was coming for days before and to have no backup plan is embarrassing. |
Agreed, some of these things you get a sense that two clubs come together to agree to attend each other's tournaments. SYC and VRSC both heavily attend each other's events. |
| Would love to complain about the Virginian but logistically, it’s been fine. |

Is it a great, good, or half-way decent set of fields? No. But kids can and do have fun playing out there, and adjusting to different pitches is a lesson in itself. Plus, it’s a lovely drive to get there when it’s not pouring. (Though if you got stuck in the mud in the parking lot, I completely understand your fury.) |
| Wr made it through!!! Potomac did a great job of managing a very enormous and unwieldy tournament, everything went on time and absolutely the worst weather conditions I have seen and managing different age brackets across different fields was done expertly. I had kids in the top age, the u13, and the u littlests diving in the mud at Muldoon and let me tell you Muldoon parking is a hazard. Fields themselves were fine. But parking was awful awful awful. |
