Virginia referendum - if you hate MAGA, vote YES (even if your mailing says to vote 'No')

I hope the Democrats get their map, but Republicans have made themselves so thoroughly hated across americ and that I don't think it matters. Republican can't be trusted to govern and everyone who isn't a white male with high school terminal education or less knows it

And seeing how the Democrats in Congress are holding up the pay for TSA, Coast Guard, and Secret Service- the very people tasked with protecting our homeland……

I cannot imagine ANYONE thinking that they want to elect more Democrats to represent them.

This is the lamest come back. That’s all the Republicans have, Congress, controlled by Republicans, can’t pass the DHS budget, and that the Dems fault.

Tell us you know nothing about how bills are passed in Congress (although I am betting you do).

Here is a primer:
It takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass the DHS funding bill. Republicans have 53 members. That means that at least 7 Democrats would have to vote to fund our TSA, Coast Guard, Secret Service, and FEMA employees. So far, Fetterman is the only reasonable Democrat to ensure that these people are paid, Chuckie Schumer is telling his members not to vote for this bill because he is beholden to the radical members in Congress and in NY. He has to appear to be part of "The Resistance." The "common sense" measures they are pushing for ICE are not common sense at all. In fact, you can bet if the Democrats claim something is "common sense," it is just the opposite. Face masks are worn by agents because 1) the radical protesters are trying to dox them and 2) cartels have put bounties on their heads. And judicial warrants? That would ensure that no illegal aliens would be picked up since a judicial warrant would only be issued if a FEDERAL law was broken - most of these illegal aliens have violated STATE laws. But, sanctuary cities and states refuse to pick them up and ensure they are taken off their streets.

LOL.
Democrats are less popular than ICE.
You can sit this one out.

All you Democrats kissing the pols' rings...yes this will pass. Elections have consequences and you aren't even thinking about the unintended ones. I voted no. Am an independent who votes blue but hates all political parties.

I’m an independent, but these ARE dirty tricks, no matter who is doing them. And the tricks and propaganda are coming from the left this time. I cannot believe the “restore fairness” wording on the actual official ballot.

This is wrong, no matter who is doing it. Vote no.

A no vote is a vote for republicans to keep doing this in red states and then dominate congress in perpetuity. The only way to stop it is to counter it and then get a national anti-gerrymandering law.

you just voted to let Trump do whatever he wants

Anonymous wrote:Honestly, it sucks, but the republicans are unabashedly pushing to create barriers to women voting (the SAVE act), threatening to put ICE thugs at polls, removing polling locations in areas with minorities, gerrymandering aggressively, and lying to the electorate. Keeping republicans in power means the erosion of democracy. Sadly, the republican controlled Congress has not shown any willingness to restrain Trump from starting wars, ICE shooting citizens in the street, imposing tariffs, or running massive deficits so the Pentagon can spend millions on king crabs.

The republicans don’t follow the rules. They cheat and profit from their lies. This is where we are as a country. You can roll over and let them continue to run ever larger deficits and lie about bombing schools or you can fight back. Up to you to decide what country you want to live in.

Exactly.

Some people are ok letting corrupt, incompetent a-holes go unchecked. Others aren't.

If I vote yes, when I drive from OT to Tysons I think I go through like 4-5 different congressional districts. All politics are ridiculous.

Republicans think it’s ridiculous. Except now we have another war, ever growing deficits, a bunch of utter incompetents running the government, and the erosion of rights for everyone but white Christian men. Thats horrifying, not ridiculous.

It's cute that you think the Virginia legislature is anything other than white Christian men.

You win some, you lose some. Next time make sure you’ve got the cards before you raise.

Can Virginia double the number of Representatives we have?

You seem unfamiliar with the VA GA.

The guy on the first page who said that it's funny to watch Republicans whine about this because Democrats have finally decided to play by the same set of rules that Republicans do is spot on. Spare me all the pearl-clutching now that Democrats have realized that Republicans will never stop bringing guns to knife fights.

Congressional Democrats have proposed bills than ban partisan gerrymandering, but Republicans refuse to back it. I wonder why!

If you loathe MAGA, vote YES.

Don't fall for the GOP BS propaganda. Their sleaziness knows no low.

The fact that you don’t recognize the propaganda also being sent from Dems tells me all I need to know. (And yes, both R’s and D’s are guilty of this).

I am voting NO because the voters already voted for a bipartisan redistricting commission. People in Danville are not represented by voters in Richmond. The tidewater residents do not have the same concerns as Alexandrians. Sorry you think it’s “not fair” that other states did things differently but I want everyone’s vote in my state to count. Even yours although I likely disagree with 99.99% of your beliefs.

OP or anyone telling me how to vote simply does not work for me. In fact, it is offensive.

No one has the right to tell another how to vote.

Telling you how to vote is a tried-and-true First Amendment right. It's a shame MAGAs like you try to pick and choose the parts of the Constitution that suit your parochial worldview and discard the rest.

Just admit it, you really have no idea what you are talking about. Republicans may be trying to catch up, but this has long been a Democrat play.
