Spring break cruise coordination drama—do I just drop it?

“Several are ordering this, totally optional” and don't say any more about it

Ohhh. Iget it. It's a prank on the husbands? That they're all wearign the exact same shirt.

The husbands whose wives won't participate will probably be sad.

I think you have to lead with that.

Maybe women who are resisting could pair up together and their husbands twin (instead of whole group). Or you could suggest they buy a second shirt of their choosing for their husbands to change into after the prank.

Buy a few extras and have them available, in case any husband actually cares, and would like one

I cannot believe people have time to worry about this sort of BS.

They could, but it defeats the purpose and they’ll look out of place in the photo.

This is so tacky. Cruises are bad enough, but matching outfits. Come on. Just let it go. People are trying to be nice and don't want to hurt your feelings, but they don't want to be dressed up like 3 year olds.

OP here. It’s not mandatory. Clearly they want to join in, but only on their terms.

Well, yeah, but you want to do it on YOUR terms as well. We don't shop Amazon either. If I were in your group, I'd either suggest an alternative to purchase, suggest people wear their own Hawaiian shirts even if they don't match precisely (I didn't even make my bridesmaids match), or just not participate. Is it really drama that some people don't want to buy the one specific shirt you chose?

OMG the matching precisely is the point. If it's not for you just ignore the messages don't try to spin your alternative or change the joke into a weird wear any Hawaiian shirt. It defeats the purpose. Just skip it without making it into a thing.

Exactly. It’s women like this that are why I don’t have many friends. I just can’t with this nonsense.

The husbands aren't in on the joke. I think some of you have no idea what OP is talking about.

The husbands won't be sad but the wives will complain about being excluded, left out, etc.

Don’t take it so seriously. Do or do not and then move on.

This was my first thought.

I do not understand this prank. Who is being pranked? I don’t pick out my husband’s clothes or lay them out for him. I’m not a valet. If I suddenly morphed into 1950s housewife, laying out a cheap Hawaiian shirt you would ask what I was doing and why. I don’t see how the husbands wouldn’t be in on it, so then who is being pranked? The kids?

This is why I don’t do cruises, or extended family vacations, or any type of planned matchy outfit thing, or pick out my husband’s clothes for him. Thank god I never have to worry about stupid things like this.

But if we “do not” people like OP get all stressed and angsty about it.

My bonus daughter and I did this for Thanksgiving one year - last minute- scoured local Targets and all the men were wearing the same plaid shirt (4-5 of them). It was goofy, but fun and harmless. And easy enough for us to give husbands/boyfriends a shirt and say "I got you this - why don't you wear it today".

But I can see this not working with certain people.

So I'd just drop it OP - those of you who want to it can have fun, and the others won't care they aren't included.

(If it was kids - different story!)
