what is the worst thing someone has said to you, on DCUM?

He left the hospital dependent on a ventilator. As we were reeling and trying to figure out how to balance his new and enormous needs with those of his siblings, I posted here. People told me I was selfish for not putting my “normal” kids first 100% of the time, that he probably was so disabled he didn’t know I existed (note: his cognitive capacities were not impacted by his medical condition, but even if they had been, kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities know their parents exist), and that I was obviously exaggerating about his needs.

I am so, so sorry OP. That is absolutely heartbreaking. People will post the most ghoulish things here because it’s anonymous.

That is not the OP. But it is nevertheless a heart breaking story.
I am the OP and I realize there's a huge disconnect between reality and a lot of things people post on here.
I'm surprised Jeff has kept his sanity.

You’re right, my bad! Meant PP.

I am constantly surprised there are such mean spirited posts on this board . And wonder what those folks are like in real life. It just can't feel good to live with that much negativity in your mind. Kinda sad for them, but sadder for those they attack... out of the blue, and seeming for no reason at all.. Maybe it's kids, but still pretty horrifying. Now I'm off to die.

I figure, they’re not actually insulting me, they’re insulting a character they dreamed up in their head and projected onto something small I said.

Or they are a dopamine addict who needs a tiny hit, or a paid troll here explicitly to cause fracture in our society, because there’s a lot of that here, too. Whatever the case, insults have become predictable enough that they start to become invisible. Usually when they are directed at me I am able to look right past them.

I guarantee there are no paid trolls here calling you insufferable.

Someone accused me of sexually abusing my toddler boys when I mentioned I bathed them together. They were 2 and 3 at the time and absolutely loved bath time.

There was a post about insurance and I said my disabled daughter is one that would suffer if Medicaid ended. Someone said "maybe she should get off her lazy butt and get a job."
She's blind. She does work some but not enough for insurance.

Curious.

How do you guarantee something like that?

Do you have some special knowledge that no one else has?

That's so funny. One of my friend's kids is actually at Oberlin.

I would consider that a compliment. One of the smartest students in my class ended up at Oberlin.

They were far smarter than I was, anyway.

Yeah I thought that for a long time, until the teacher at Georgetown Prep who had recently graduated from Oberlin fondled the 13 yr old girl

No I do not. But it will tarnish their image, absolutely and you know that.

If you think there are any colleges that have not graduated students who went on to do heinous things, I have some bad news for you.

I posted on here about a situation where my adult son’s name was attached to a credit card of his ex-GF’s family…..
I suspected they were using his name on the card for his good credit, w/o permission.

I had asked what I could do about it and everyone who responded told me that my son was lying to me, that he had authorized his name on the card + that my son was a useless loser who was scamming me and that he probably deserved to be scammed by his ex’s family if they had indeed used his good name to acquire a credit card, etc.

I had come on DCUM for advice & was very hurt by all the judgement and name-calling I received in return.

Fast forward a few mos. later, his ex’s family confessed to identity theft and admitted they did not have my son’s consent to obtain said credit card in his name so my son had the charges on his name expunged.

But the hurt stayed w/me for a very long time…….

(the 12week old was sleeping on his stomach, I was with him the whole time watching him, sent a pic to parents because it was cute, they said never put baby on stomach and I was let go. I do know that it’s not safe, but 2 babies was a lot, and I felt it was ok at the time because I stayed watching him)

Ohhh, they are very brutal in the Nanny Forums.

So sorry.
