Or they could have a few busses that pick up at central locations, like for the magnet programs.

is BOE really cared about equality they would pay to bus kids.

or how about just online schools for any FARMS kid? That way they can avoid the bus.

How do you think kids will get there who are farms. Be real. And, that would not work socially. Use the money to enhance the dcc schools.

no you have to integrate the schools. social integration (if kids from different neighborhoods mix) has no bearing on this process. the schools have to have equal percentages of FARMS kids.

That is poor goal.

Reminds of narrowing the ahchievement gap goal by MCPS(horrible goal), goal should have been to elevate all kids. Even if everyone went up by 10% with same achievement gap, it will be a fantastic outcome.

that's the BOE's goal. Why do you support ongoing segregation?

No one is supporting segregation. You attent the school where you live. If it's in mix area then MCPS should try to balance FARMS in those schools.

Trying to bus kids all around county to feel good is simply nuts. That's not going to help kids. I grew up in high FARMS area and I would have hated to be bused 40 minutes away.

Nah, online is not really the same as actual school. In fact, it will make situation worse.

Best option for MCPS is to have some central hubs in high FARMS area and allow anyone who want sto attend Churchill and Whitman like what we have for magnet. Churchill and Whitman really use some economic diversity.

Let's say put 10-15% of seats. This way no one is getting forced bussing.

Correction: Not anyone from high FARMS. It has to be FARMS kids.

but then what would you do with the rest of option 3? it has a ton of forced busing, with long bus rides.

does MCPS have any policy about school buses on the beltway? Like do they try to avoid it?

This.

I don’t know about any policy, but I see plenty on the beltway.

I like the idea of magnet like bus option for FARMS kid to allow them to attend Whitman and Churchill.

Win win for all parties involved. Since it's optional, it's not negative for anyone.

I would agree with this, but what does the baseline map look like then if not 3?

My comment for magnet like bus for FARMS kids to atten Whitman and Churchill is not about option 3. It was a general idea in any option. least cost and most benefit for all parties and no one is getting forced to take that option.

All options will have to be rethought. One logistic challenge here. We don't know how many FARMS kids will take spot or all 15% spots will taken. It makes it challneging to create boudary unless we know that number. May be it can be kept 5% in start in first year and gradually increased to 15% if it works.
