I have a kid who's doing engineering at a top 20 school and would very much like to fly F-35s or F-18s.

But he's not at an academy or doing ROTC, so it would be OCS and then flight school. And I'm not convinced OCS people get a shot at F-35s or F-18s no matter how well they do.

This would be an excellent time for a random naval aviator to chime in.

Better shot flying helicopters in the army. Air Force is moving more and more to unmanned aircraft.

Imagine being one of those cadets on what is the most important day of their young lives and some old dude who avoided military service and who has openly denigrated veterans gets up wearing a cheap baseball hat and rambles on and on for his own purposes.

A few years ago I had the honor of attending my nephew’s passing out at Sandhurst in England. The speech to the cadets there was given by a senior officer. It was moving, inspirational and APPROPRIATE.
