At least he did not tell them that he was recruited to play football there and received an appointment, but that Roger Staubach had been recruited so he knew he might not play. Maybe, he could have substituted Pete Dawkins (earlier WP Heisman winner) for Staubach.

That’s boilerplate grad speech stuff. AI can do that. Doesn’t make it a very good speech.

No. It was not boilerplate. You did not listen to all of it. He seriously honored the cadets who were graduating. Repeatedly. Sure, there was typical Trump MAGA, too, but there was some seriously good moments in the speech.

One would hope so! He does have taxpayer-funded speechwriters.

It's the nonsense he spews when going off-script that is entertaining and troubling.

+100 the whole point of him being there is to honor the cadets! Repeatedly. He doesn’t get brownie points for doing that. That was the job!

Did he honor the ones that are not maga while he was standing up there with his political maga gear? He failed the assignment.

Huh? You don't think the cadets want to make America great again? He did not know who voted for him and who didn't.

GMAFB. He left early to go golfing instead of staying to shake hands. He doesn’t care about them…at all. He failed again.

You don't understand why he's not supposed to wear political stuff to West point. I hope the cadets understand why he shouldn't do that.

I have to believe they do after the education they received. It’s very obvious that he’s an incompetent, senile fraud. Everybody just has to wait it out.

Speaking at West Point is not a campaign opportunity. The military should be apolitical. Can you imagine Biden or Obama giving a campaign speech at West Point? We would STILL be hearing about it on Fox.

I just saw on Twitter that he told the same story to the Boy Scout jamboree during his first term. It would be wild if one of the graduates was at the jamboree as a child and got both versions of the story. Also it’s so interesting that *this* is his biggest advice to what he sees as an (all) young male audience, now that we know he’s told it twice.

Did you ever think that maybe many of the cadets do not think that America is bad. I was happy when my cousin decided to withdraw her application to the Academy for the upcoming class. Smart kid.

There definitely were some very good if not great parts to the speech. While not his best, at least he kept the audience and himself awake. That's not something I'm sure Biden would have been able to do.

Chester A Arthur always had a good turn of phrase. What John Tyler said would have been inspirational, but he was so soft-spoken that people's head would nod. Benjamin Harrison now -- he was funny and inspiring!
