I have a kid who's doing engineering at a top 20 school and would very much like to fly F-35s or F-18s.

But he's not at an academy or doing ROTC, so it would be OCS and then flight school. And I'm not convinced OCS people get a shot at F-35s or F-18s no matter how well they do.
