Under Trump they are breaking recruiting records.

MAGA !!

They lowered the bar. Also, it started before Nov 2024 elections.

In fact, according to Army data, recruiting numbers have been increasing steadily over the past year, with the highest total in August 2024 — before the November election. Army officials closely track recruiting numbers.

Instead, a significant driver of the recruiting success was the Army’s decision to launch the Future Soldier Prep Course, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in August 2022. That program gives lower-performing recruits up to 90 days of academic or fitness instruction to help them meet military standards and move on to basic training.

In the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2024, the Army met its recruiting goal of 55,000 and began to rebuild its delayed entry pool. About 24 percent of those recruits came out of the prep course. Wormuth said she expects it will contribute about 30 percent of this year’s recruits.

So that’s who needs remedial math. American military recruits, not foreign students at Harvard.

A few years ago I had the honor of attending my nephew’s passing out at Sandhurst in England. The speech to the cadets there was given by a senior officer. It was moving, inspirational and APPROPRIATE.

They were probably all sitting there thinking, “Maryland got Kermit the Frog and we ended up with this?”

OMG Fox News is so big mad about Kermit the Frog, it’s hilarious.

The event is to honor the graduates, not the speaker.

In another thread the only way I could describe trump is that he is intellectually putrid. Even on television his
decay and rot emits a fetid smell as he vomits his fecal tirades of lies and threats.

My senior navel officer dad detested him. So some of the old timers are savvy and have as much respect for him as he has for the military which is to say not much.

I’m envious, seriously. I wish this were my dad’s case. It’s horribly depressing to see these old guys spend their last years on earth enamored with this fool.

He would have been very unhappy about that maga hat at West point among many other issues. Trump doesn't know or care about the importance of keeping the military as apolitical as possible.

Thank you University of Maryland!! Great choice of speaker. Wish we had had Kermit. Our speaker was tedious.

That's why he can't find actual American women to marry; the only motivation to marry Trump is chain migration.

Hopefully everyone who say through that awful speech was disgusted.

Yes. I am really glad my officer dad did not live to see this low level person as commander-in-chief.

Could you imagine Eisenhower, Truman, Kennedy, or either Bush speaking like this? We have really gone down as a country. I have no hope.

A lot of the speech was very good. I liked that he honored the graduates and pointed out their excellence. I did not like the Leavitt story. He did ramble quite a bit, but towards the end it was quite good. He also emphasized that he knew they were going to do great things. Trump always gives rambling speeches.

At least he did not tell them that he was recruited to play football there and received an appointment, but that Roger Staubach had been recruited so he knew he might not play. Maybe, he could have substituted Pete Dawkins (earlier WP Heisman winner) for Staubach.

He absolutely should not have worn the MAGA gear. Shame on him for that

He gave an excellent speech, captured and held the attention of the audience, and sparkled some light humor throughout. I only wish I could have been there in person to witness such a historic speech. So proud of him.

He parachuted in in a MAGA hat to make totally inappropriate campaign rally speech excerpts and left in the middle. Shameful.

He had more pressing things to address than shaking hands with randos like fixing the big mess Biden has created in the middle east.

Lol. No. He had a crypto bribe dinner to attend.

That’s boilerplate grad speech stuff. AI can do that. Doesn’t make it a very good speech.

No. It was not boilerplate. You did not listen to all of it. He seriously honored the cadets who were graduating. Repeatedly. Sure, there was typical Trump MAGA, too, but there was some seriously good moments in the speech.

One would hope so! He does have taxpayer-funded speechwriters.

It's the nonsense he spews when going off-script that is entertaining and troubling.

He rambled for an hour. A clock is right twice a day.
