And why are my Dem reps not standing up to Trump?

A PP is correct that most lawmakers think they are there to pass legislation. They are there to stop a coup. They aren’t mentally equipped for that.

That is their job. They are leaving illegalities up to the courts - and the courts are doing their job, too.

I would argue at this point it’s not about policy, it’s about stopping the coups. And Democrats are expecting the courts to save them when everything will only end up at the corrupt Roberts court.

I have no issue leaving it up to the courts. And I wouldn't call it "corrupt" - just because you don't agree with many of the SCOTUS decisions doesn't make it corrupt.

Do they not realize we are not fighting on issue/policy alignment but on perception?

I am so frustrated with the D party.

I know Ezra Klein's column this week and his book has some buzz going: https://slate.com/culture/2025/03/abundance-ezra-klein-democrats-book-derek-thompson.html) and I appreciate him and listen to his podcast but what has stuck out to me recently is David Brooks's remarks (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/06/opinion/david-brooks-trump-power.html) that perhaps the Dem issue is they at they don't lean into their base which is not working class Americans, but actually highlight educated and intellectual Americans.

This is a message for Rep Gerry Connolly, and Sen Kaine, and Sen Warner.

Your leadership has brought this result. Thank you.

For all the times you refused to mandate e-verify to go after employers hiring illegal aliens. e-verify opposition is biparitsan for different reasons

For all the times you refused to enforce border regulations. it was Trump and the gop who killed the last 4 efforts for a border bill going back 30 years

For all the times you supported expansion of H-1B and L1 by Biden.

For all the times you supported expansion of OPT by Biden.

Thank you for expanding immigration which resulted in democrats losing , twice, and the federal work force getting cut in half. immigration is good for the country, even the 27.5 billion dollars that undocumented workers pay into social security and will never see a dime of it helps our country and that doesn't even get to the sales and other taxes they undocumented workers pay...the documented pay as much as native born people

Thank you. This could not have happened without your votes to expand immigration guaranteeing that democrats will lose elections.

Immigration was the second most important issue and democrats abandoned US citizens

So, what would you suggest?

I think every sitting member of the House and Senate should be voted out of office for this enabling or inaction.

We won the electoral and popular vote. You didn't. Deal with it

Even regular people who voted Trump couldn't have anticipated Trump 2.0. They just wanted to get rich the old fashioned Republican way. Don't think they are happy. They are just quiet and that's fine because they didn't go all in on MAGA merch like you might have.

They can swing the other way and no one is the wiser.

Don't get too comfy

How could we not anticipate it? He SAID it was going to be a revenge tour of tearing down the government and everyone in the world he ever thought wronged him. Musk was by his side through the whole thing. Project 2025 was right there for us to read! Sure it's even more shocking when it's actually happening - but it's not like the guy ran on getting us good healthcare and making sure no kids were hungry.

Because they don't want Musk's teenage hackers digging around in their dirty laundry.

I'm convinced Musk has something very, very juicy on the Trump family which is what has allowed him to manipulate Trump so easily.

I think it's an open secret to all in the Senate and in Congress. Go against Musk and face the consequences, which are him unleashing his minions to dig into your past.

I know that and you know that.

But you know... greed$$... they thought Rs would dependably "R."

Not sit back and watch while Trump trashes the country.

See, their blind spot is that they were told and wanted to believe the mythology that Jan 6 was not a coup. That the rest of the country just had it out for their boy, Donny.

His current actions, when seen through the lens of Jan 6 being a coup attempt, make perfect sense. It's got to be bewildering for those who were brainwashed to think otherwise and of course they still distrust Democrats

Maxine Waters had a freudian slip on this. She admitted that she was very worried about Musk looking into her bank accounts. LOL.

I really feel like people who were truly paying attention could and should have anticipated what Trump was going to be like this time around. J6 should have scared everyone....it should have ended him.

There isn't a single indpendent poll that supports this assertion, and please don't cite the right wing push polls.

Exactly.

Exactly! Was working for Congress that day. I was fully disgusted by Congress for not impeaching Trump.

J6 should have ended Trump's career in public service and would have had we nominated someone capable of serving two terms in 2020. Oops.

Yes it would. This administration is a threat to our democracy. That means everyone associated with it is also a danger. None of them should get Dem support because we should be doing literally everything we can to thwart this administration. Why do you people not get this? There is no "reasonable" in a fascist administration.

Jesus Christ. We are under attack people. Trump is on a mission to destroy our democracy and has sold us out to Russia. He's alienating us from allies and threatening the sovereignty of multiple countries we previously had friendly relationships with. What will it take for you all to realize that if we do not fight now, with everything we have, we will lose our democracy, that was once the envy of the world.

The Robert's court is corrupt. We know this. They've all been caught accepting bribes and taking part in coup attempts. They've trashed our constitution and our rights.

Sometimes I think we deserve what's coming. We're just so collectively stupid and weak.

The "obstruct everything" approach is not a winner. Trump is a very successful politician, like it or not. He WON the election. AFTER being convicted of felonies, after being held liable for sexual assualt, after being banned from Twitter, after J6. Most voters STILL wanted what he was selling. Including firing some bureaucrats. Taxpayers want that!
Democrats have been resisting this, and our party's approval rating has dropped a lot more than Trump's has! We have to pick a few things to agree on so we can chalk up SOME wins in the next few years. We can't let Trump have the only accomplishments (good and bad) and just say #theresistance #neverthelessshepersisted
