One reason Democratic Reps aren't standing up to Trump more is that he's more popular than they are. So squawking loudly about him cements their status as the minority party. They would do better to cooperate with him on his policies that are most popular with independents, so they can claim those achievements in the next election.

Trump is retaining his popularity while Elon Musk takes the heat - but there will come a time, soon, when Musk's unpopularity extends to Trump. Probably as the reality of Trump's stock market/economy shenanigans sink in.

We need to keep pressuring them. But instead of saying FU when they don’t do what we want, say Thank you when they take the tiniest step.

A PP is correct that most lawmakers think they are there to pass legislation. They are there to stop a coup. They aren’t mentally equipped for that.

That is their job. They are leaving illegalities up to the courts - and the courts are doing their job, too.

This country has a culture of obeying court orders. We all know that when you get to the point of disobeying a court order, you are in the wrong. This is who we are.

There are two prominent people in our government today that do not believe in following court orders, and admittedly they are powerful people, but they are a tiny minority compared to the numbers of department heads, leaders, and the rank and file of the civil service. Court orders will be followed.

I know Ezra Klein's column this week and his book has some buzz going: https://slate.com/culture/2025/03/abundance-ezra-klein-democrats-book-derek-thompson.html) and I appreciate him and listen to his podcast but what has stuck out to me recently is David Brooks's remarks (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/06/opinion/david-brooks-trump-power.html) that perhaps the Dem issue is they at they don't lean into their base which is not working class Americans, but actually highlight educated and intellectual Americans.

For all the times you refused to mandate e-verify to go after employers hiring illegal aliens.

For all the times you refused to enforce border regulations.

For all the times you supported expansion of H-1B and L1 by Biden.

For all the times you supported expansion of OPT by Biden.

Thank you for expanding immigration which resulted in democrats losing , twice, and the federal work force getting cut in half.

Thank you. This could not have happened without your votes to expand immigration guaranteeing that democrats will lose elections.

I would argue at this point it’s not about policy, it’s about stopping the coups. And Democrats are expecting the courts to save them when everything everything will only end up at the corrupt Roberts court.
