X has news and opinions from all sides. You listen to them then you get to think and form your own opinion. I know that’s hard for you but maybe give it a try. You might like it! [/quote

F it. I'm going to go out of my way to ensure I don't support Elmo.

I’m sure he will miss your ad revenue in his bank account.

X USED TO have opinions from all sides. Not since Musk took over. It has some diversity of viewpoints but mostly rwnj posters, like musk himself. And he makes all users see his nonsense. I learn things from many sources - traditional newspapers, online news sites, podcasts and substacks. I don’t need tweet length social media posts to know the news, think or form my own opinion. People who read tweets and declare themselves well informed are truly sad. And responsible for the decline in criticism thought, awareness f news and facts and susceptibility to conspiracy theories. Social media is not news.

You do recognize that there’s no such thing as a tweet-length post, right? This is not Twitter, it’s X. Type as much as you want, with videos and discussions and links and threads and supporting documents. Much more info than you’ll find in a newspaper. Legacy media is dead, X is the news now. Sorry Mr. Elon hurt your feelings.

Stop trying to make fetch happen.Trump wants us to believe that Musk’s X propaganda machine is the only news. Hopefully many Americans are well educated enough to know better.

I understand the idea of not wanting to financially benefit Musk but I'm not sure how you are using Twitter if you are seeing things you don't want to see. I use the lists feature for local weather, sports, and news. The politics aren't any different before or after Musk bought it, I follow the accounts that interest me and that is mostly all that appears in my feed. Sometimes someone in my sports feed will start commenting about politics but that's an easy unfollow and they are gone.

Many centrist and left leaning people have left X since he bought it and changed the culture. I use the feeds and see tons of posts by people I don’t follow, including Musk. I never used it much so didn’t create lists, so thanks for the tip. But given the corrupt owner and the many users who have fled, I’m not interested in continuing to use it.

I use Bluesky. It would be great if more people used it. I'm still on FB because it allows more personal interaction, but I'm trying to stop clicking on their ads. It's the little things.

X is 48% blue and 47% red.

I think any percentage of red over 0 is too much for many on the left nowadays.

I have a tangential but related comment about X.

I tried to stay on there. Too a break for 2023-most of 2024. Essentially since Elon bought it.

Got back on and I was trying to ‘fight the good fight’. I am not as progressive as you all but as a sort of conservative, I felt like there were still impotent conversations happening. People I followed were still actively posting. People had another departure late 2024.

One day, it hit me, my whole life I could go without hearing N this, or All sorts of racist things, at least just in my casual life and reading and online environment….. but it hit me that I was seeing this stuff many many many times a day. It was only on X.

It was gradual, but I was being shown much less of people I wanted to follow. Much more random people, much more overt racism. (That I know Jeff has to moderate here).

Unmoderated. Completely. Elon wants that. He wants the most racist environment I’ve ever witnessed in my 40 years.

So sorry for typos. I’m sitting awkwardly with my child who fell asleep in my bed.

1) it really doesn't. The algorithm is strongly biased toward propaganda, especially now
2) neither do you. You're saying "collect info and form your own opinion" but be honest: how many sources do you use? Or do you just look at what's on twitter?

Nothing run by the propaganda machine should be trusted at this point, certainly not as a primary source. And giving it your click revenue supports the nonsense, not the truth.
