Inaugural Prayer Service - reactions are telling

I actually thought that Trump‘s comment about it when I asked about it by the press was nicely restrained, for him anyway . I think he just said that it wasn’t great and he didn’t like it or something. He resisted tearing into the policy.

But of course the women know how to behave appropriately, and the men don’t.

lol you tuned out before the buffoon exploded.

"She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way. She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart. She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our Country and killed people. Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions. It is a giant crime wave that is taking place in the USA. Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!"

Why was he in church? This isn’t a thing for him or his wife, or Mr. and Mrs. Vance. Doubt they’ve been inside a church for services ever.

Yes, she's brave. But it was her church, after all.

I look forward to the day when there is no prayer service after a presidential inauguration.

Especially for an atheist, like Trump.

It's fine if a president requests a prayer service, but it should not be automatic. Remember: separation of church and state.

Good one. In a country where the head of state is sworn in with his hand on a bible and the currency has "in god we trust" printed on it.

You didn't read the constitution, did you?

None of that is establishing a state religion, of course. But the coin thing has always bothered me.

What? Where else would be better to remind people of God's mercy and will?

What is "that"? To love your neighbor? To have mercy on those suffering? I think you've lost true meaning of Christianity.

She didn't ask them to understand and rally around the LGBTQ community. She asked for them to have mercy.

Weird, that Trump, an atheist, is having his unseemly behavior defended by supposedly religious people.

Who's defending him?

Except Tiffany. She looked like an idiot swinging her head around. I’m mortified that she graduated from my law school.

Honestly, I wondered if she was medicated or had taken something. I know people who’ve struggled with substance use disorder and they had wonky eyes like that.

Do they really have no moral values? Do they not understand the incredible power that they have now and how there actually are people suffering because of them?

I didn't vote for them, but at the end of the day, you like to believe that your leaders have a shred of decency and humanity in them, and these people truly are vile.

JD became Catholic for political reasons. He didn’t baptize his children, which is required when you are a practicingCatholic. He doesn’t practice anything catholic.

Usha was the one that made me wonder if she might understand the Bishop’s point. Melania has been in the Cathedral before and heard this type of message before when Barron attended high school here at an Episcopal School. Just ask those of us who were also in attendance and saw her. Asking for mercy for vulnerable people is what Christian clergy who actually believe in God do. Everyone freaking out is giving themselves away that they are not followers of Christ and God but rather followers of power.

Transgender ppl fearing for their lives? I thought it was a bit dramatic.

These days, a lot of people consider themselves to be both followers of Christ and Power. Actually, that's been going on for a long time. Rulers throughout history have often been Christian.

They are followers of both, as power mongers often are. Christ and God have a lot of power for people who believe in them.
