Inaugural Prayer Service - reactions are telling

Sermon went straight to the point and it was telling that Melania and Usha stayed stoic the whole time. Usha didn’t even react when JD looked at her multiple times to commiserate.

I’m an Episcopalian, and I’m sure this was completely expected. I can’t imagine anything in that sermon was a surprise. I actually thought that Trump‘s comment about it when I asked about it by the press was nicely restrained, for him anyway . I think he just said that it wasn’t great and he didn’t like it or something. He resisted tearing into the policy.

But of course the women know how to behave appropriately, and the men don’t.

Except Tiffany. She looked like an idiot swinging her head around. I’m mortified that she graduated from my law school.

This is what everyone gets for going along with building a pretend National Church and holding government functions there to further the charade.

Nepotism at it's best.

Still would not be surprised in Bishop Budde becomes a MAGA target … Hope they don’t demonize her like Fauci ..

But I am so glad that she used her powerful platform to stand up for non criminal immigrants and transgender people who now fear for their lives. She is a genuine, highly intelligent, kind, courageous, and disciplined religious leader. That was all on display in her homily at this service as she spoke to truth to power.

So much for restraint. He had a late-night melt down. Think I will drop off flowers for Bishop Budde today. https://www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trump-de...e-hurt-his-feelings/

Good idea. I hope she feels supported. That was brave and the right things to do.

Very brave individual.

I complain sometimes about our Episcopal church doing too many sermons like this, about the evils of things that basically no one in the congregation supports, but when you've got the most powerful person in the world who DOES in front of you, it's the right call.

Yes, she's brave. But it was her church, after all.

I look forward to the day when there is no prayer service after a presidential inauguration.

Especially for an atheist, like Trump.

It's fine if a president requests a prayer service, but it should not be automatic. Remember: separation of church and state.

Good one. In a country where the head of state is sworn in with his hand on a bible and the currency has "in god we trust" printed on it.

You didn't read the constitution, did you?

I’m not linking to X anymore but Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) had this to say:

“The person giving this sermon should be added to the deportation list”

So much for religious freedom and freedom of speech!
