Yes, this is what it is. Let's keep blaming it on Putin instead of trying to actually put together a coherent platform and focus on peoples' problems. The degree to which this idiotic cope has taken hold AGAIN after we should have learned our lesson in 2016 is astonishing to me. |
The head minister at my church said he was noting for Harris because she represents Christian values better but encouraged everyone to respect each others’ choices. |
Good to see she is an outlier. |
+1 |
Putin (who is also probably an atheist) has exploited the Russian Orthodox Church to the point where it is now a propaganda arm of KGB. I do think Putin has been coaching Trump for years in how to be a successful dictator. This represents cynical misuse of religion. OP’s Question was do you think Trump is an atheist and my response was yes but he is skillfully exploiting religion for unchristian purposes (divide and conquer tactics) |
Not an outlier in many mainstream churches |
I can't find 2024 data and I may well be wrong. There was definitely data that showed "evangelicals" who basically never went to church were Trump's strongest "evangelical" supporters while those who attended weekly or more were his weakest evangelical supporters. I go to the kind of church that wouldn't dream of telling me who to vote for, and the thought of those "churches" that are basically giant political rallies for anyone makes me sick. Like the other PP I'm not sure those get to count. |
Yes it is an outlier in many mainstream churches. Check the statistics. |
I've never seen that information anywhere. What is true... religious people are more susceptible to misinformation, more religion people voted for trump. since Reagan evangelicals have been targeted by Republican's to vote for Republicans and their beliefs are turned into pretzels to convince them to do so, evangelical leaders are being paid off to misinform from the pulpit since Reagan. |
Definitely not an outlier in my mainstream church - Republican members feel on the outs. There is a lot mourning in my large church knowing how much suffering will lie ahead for so many people. But you are right because it is a mixed bag and varies by race. White evangelicals continue to support Trump. It boggles my mind. SEPTEMBER 9, 2024 White Protestants and Catholics support Trump, but voters in other U.S. religious groups prefer Harris Heading into the fall campaign for president, U.S. religious groups that traditionally have leaned Republican are backing former President Donald Trump by wide margins, while religious groups that traditionally have favored Democratic candidates are mostly supporting Vice President Kamala Harris. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/09/09/white-protestants-and-catholics-support-trump-but-voters-in-other-us-religious-groups-prefer-harris/ |
You mean you belong to a black church? |
We are not predominantly black but relatively diverse … a lot of emphasis on education and compassion … it makes me very sad to see how well Trump did among so many Christians … I have always supported separation of church and state but now I see it as essential and urgent. Anyway that is beside’s OP’s intent for this thread . To me Trump is a particularly cynical atheist who knows how to exploit religion for unholy purposes. The atheists and agnostics whom I know in real life are far more ethical and honest so this is not meant as an insult. I just don’t believe that anyone who loves and fears God would behave in the way he does. |
Effectively, yes. I don’t see any evidence in his words and deeds that indicates he has anything resembling a relationship with Jesus, or any other religious leanings for that matter. |
I agree. I am an atheist. |
HAHAHAHAHAHA |
