Is Trump an atheist?

Anonymous
It was mentioned on another thread that Trump is an atheist, but nobody picked up on it. Maybe neither religious people nor atheists want to think that.

What do you think?

Officially: no

Practically in the way he lives his life? His god is himself. To the extent that that makes one an atheist, yes.

Then again, I am not in a position to judge the state of his soul. But "they shall know them by their fruits" is a tenant of my faith, so...

No silly, he is a good Christian man who prays daily, goes to church weekly, is in a bible study group and lives by the word of God. You know it by the way he talks about others, especially the poor. And, he is so selfless and humble.
/S

But seriously, he must be doing something right because he's the luckiest MFer to ever walk the face of this earth. Or, more likely, he made a deal with the devil. He likes to make deals.

I feel like saying you are an atheist involves some deep thought about the state of the universe and humanity that Trump isn't capable of.

I think he’s culturally Christian. He certainly doesn’t live his life as one though.

Depends on the day and how it fits into his current scam.

Christian here and I'd generally agree with this about the really small subset of people who are actually Christian nationalists.

Though creepily back in the late 90s the seed of Christian nationalism was starting among people who seemed to at least really care about theology (whether they really followed Jesus was an open question even at the time). Denominations were even having to point out where they were twisting things to make their weird and disturbing points.

Of course these days the media, at least, uses "Christian nationalist" to identify people who adamantly are not.

Trump is the Devil, so he can't be an atheist since he absolutely believes in himself.

You spelled it wrong, it's antichrist.

Whatever they call themselves, many, many "Christians" chose leaders who push "Christian nationalist" narratives/policies. So...
