Could Trump's victory lead to saner DC crime policy?

I think you can see things get less safe, I would expect some capitol police to quit rather than work near his White House.

That's objectively untrue though. Crime was relatively low in the 2010s. After covid eroded social norms and progressives became convinced that prosecuting crime is racist, violence exploded. Matthew Graves has gotten better but he only prosecuted 33% of crimes in 2023. Crime and anti-social behavior are worse now than under Trump.

+ a million.

Murders in 2019 were 150 or so, last year it was nearly double.

Money is not the problem, it's what you do with it.

Did you somehow magically forget the nearly 200 homicides in DC in 2020?

The increase in crime in DC started to take-off in 2018.

No. Here’s why: under trump, inflation will increase. Petty crime and violent crime will go up as a result of this. The majority of petty and violent crimes in dc are committed by black males. These black males, often young black males, will continue to assault, steal, hold people at gunpoint for the purpose of stealing their belongings, etc. It’s not the Latinos committing these crimes; it’s the young black men, and even black underage boys committing these crimes. Cost of living will increase under trump, including cost of basic goods like groceries. So, these young black men will continue committing these crimes as a source of income, and as a source of getting basic things for themselves. So to answer your question, no. These types of crimes will likely not go down under trump. Hopefully they do. But they likely won’t. Unless he and local law enforcement are stricter on young black males. And hopefully they are stricter.

You guys are hilarious. In one breath you'll talk about how the federal government is too bloated and Trump is going to come in and shrink it and in the next breath you are giddy over the idea of creating a federal police force in the capital.

It's not even a Trump thing-- this is the problem with Republicans in government for a long time. They run on "government is bad! we hate government!" But then when they are in charge of the government, they're like "more government please!" This is why deficits always balloon under the GOP too. Bunch of hypocrites.

There were 116 in 2017, Trump's first full year. I thought he was tough on crime?

Other than that one sad incident, it was thriving.

Crazy idea, please hear me out.

Could we somehow annex DC to Florida and benefit from DeSantis masterful Governor skills?

We could call DC North Florida, and perhaps over time expand all the way to NY.

No thanks, I like that my homeowners insurance doesn't cost the equivalent of an annual private school tuition. Hell, I like that I'm able to get homeowners insurance, unlike many in Florida, which is well on its way to becoming a failed state.

Republicans don’t hate government, they hate bureaucracy. They hate paper pushers. Cops and military are doers and Republicans like them.

Trump had increasing murders in DC EVERY YEAR he was President and his appointees ran the USAO:
2017: 116
2018: 160
2019: 164
2020: 200

Crime literally went up the entire time Trump was President when his prosecutors and judges were running the show.
