Could Trump's victory lead to saner DC crime policy?

I think you can see things get less safe, I would expect some capitol police to quit rather than work near his White House.

That's objectively untrue though. Crime was relatively low in the 2010s. After covid eroded social norms and progressives became convinced that prosecuting crime is racist, violence exploded. Matthew Graves has gotten better but he only prosecuted 33% of crimes in 2023. Crime and anti-social behavior are worse now than under Trump.

Cause and effect. Follow the leader. It will
Likely get worse bc he really doesn’t see that as an issue or a money maker.

I don't believe this. He has pretty explicitly talked about how DC has gotten unsafer under the Democrats, and about how he wants to clean it up

He could send in the National Guard to combat crime. Or revive a takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department — once attempted in the summer of 2020, but prevented after city leaders pushed back.

Yes, please. Sounds amazing.

I mean not DC. The Capitol. It was awful. Why he’s not in prison and not the President again escapes me. But DC was pretty safe

While I doubt the GOP will repeal home rule and take over DC's juvenile crime policy, can we at least expect Trump's US Attorney for DC to actually take violent crime seriously (unlike Matthew Graves)? Can we expect the District to get safer under Trump? Or is this wishful thinking?

No because people are going to get desperate with no jobs and no food
Mass deportations will be all Indians Hispanics Japanese’s Chinese and Korean etc.. anyone not lily white Stephen miller is horrifying

JFC. Seek help.

DO. NOT. GET. PREGNANT!

It’s not just extremely expensive, it’s life threatening.

Meh. Let them get pregnant. Culling the weaklings who can’t safely have a baby.

I hope Trump raises standards of safety and beautification in DC, even if with intention to impress others.

Yes, Trump will find x crime in this country ty he doesn't like it care about, he'll waive his magic c wand and eliminate inflation without actually doing anything (and even when the inflation is actually price gouging), and also the streets will be paved with gold and money will grown on trees. We are entering a bright, exciting new era where we have no problems because a 78 yr old felon who has declared bankruptcy repeatedly and has an alarming addiction to bronzer will be president soon.

Yeah, I hope he goes El Salvador on crime and the city looks like Causcescu’s Bucharest

Democracy be damned. I can get with that

If he is in an emperor mindset, he would want a fancy throne and impress visiting dignitaries and tourists with his opulence.

We spend billions on annual aid for other countries and their colonial agendas, why can't we spend money on our own capital.
