Balanced plant based diet

Cottage cheese can be a base for a lot of things. I melt some cheese, veg pepperoni and tomato sauce for a pizza bowl. Or mix cottage cheese with diced eggs and avocado for a twist on an egg salad.

Other things I eat a lot of:
-Edamame
-Vegetarian chickpea caesar salad
-Eggs - fried, hardboiled, scrambled etc
-String cheese
-Tons of tofu in all forms

Not the best long term I am sure, but helping me to focus on protein vs carbs:
-Protein coffee daily with a protein drink and cold brew
-Occasional quest chips or protein bars

Eggs and dairy are not plant-based. R U really this clueless.

All carbs are technically and scientifically "bad", there are no good ones, but some are simply less harmful than others.

All carbs get broken down into glucose in the body though, except fructose tends to get deposited as fat rather than used in most people.

A plant based diet in general is not healthy at all. Sure it is better than a high-carb diet of junk food, but not nearly as healthy as a more protein and fat based diet.

I see because man ate meat first and then discovered agriculture? so we are more adept at eating meat vs plants?

Let me throw some thoughts at that:

1. Man is the only primate to eat meat. So what, humans are a different species.
2. Man doesn't make Vitamin C - carnivores do; we were meant to get this from plants. The need for Vit C is reduced to almost nothing on a no-carb diet. Also you get plenty of vit C from meats, organ meats, eggs, etc.
3. Man makes cholesterol and carnivores don't; we hold on to it - carnivores do not they actually flush out excess. Cholesterol is good and keeps you healthy and creates testosterone. LDL is bad, and caused by overconsumption of carbs.
4. Carnivores swallow their food; Man like other herbivores chew their food. And this is not relevant at all.
5. Adventist study comparing similar environment and genetics show vegetarian diets are far healthier. This is about science, not religious dogma. Try the religious section.
6. China Study - 750,000 people over 25 years show vegetarian diet is far healthier. China is poor and has to feed 2+ billion people a rice based diet or they starve. They are not very healthy at all overall as a population.
7. Fiber is essential for gut biome. There is 0% of fiber coming from meat. Fiber is not necessary for proper bowel movements when eating enough fat. Hence why a high protein low fat diet is deadly.

All of that has been debunked and fact checked in bold.

You drank the Kool-Aid didn't you?

1. Looks like you don't believe in evolution. You don't see families in a taxonomical chart differ so much in diet.
2. "Vit C is reduced to almost nothing ..."; have you heard of: scurvy? sailors on entirely meat diet got them. This was known in the 1800s.
3. High Cholesterol - you need a little and a lot builds up. This has been proven.
4. Point is carnivores digest meat differently - the stomach acid is higher. Herbivores need to chew.
5. Adventist study - compares people living in the same area, similar genetics, and different diets. Nothing to do with religion. And its a large American study.
6. China Study - compares healthy and non-healthy. And China did not have 2+ Billion ever! Even a percentage of healthy from a billion is a large number.
7. Fiber has always been linked to bowel movements. Plus Fat gets absorbed before the gut bacteria eat them.

Hello! I love this!! You are 100% right and this post is brilliant!!

LMAO that's mean.

Just for the record, not being mean and I do love the post and agree 100% with it.

You drank the Kool-Aid didn't you?

1. Looks like you don't believe in evolution. You don't see families in a taxonomical chart differ so much in diet. Humans evolved to eat mostly meat, due to larger brains that we evolved so we could learn to make weapons and hunt.
2. "Vit C is reduced to almost nothing ..."; have you heard of: scurvy? sailors on entirely meat diet got them. This was known in the 1800s. Sailors were fed hard tack which is mostly all carbs, along with potatos. Very little meat consumption in the Navy, so they didn't get enough Vit C from their diets and had to supplement with citrus, which was cheaper, easier to store, than fresh meat.
3. High Cholesterol - you need a little and a lot builds up. This has been proven. Cholesterol builds up due to poor genetics or lack of activity leading to obesity, or overeating especially high carb diets.
4. Point is carnivores digest meat differently - the stomach acid is higher. Herbivores need to chew. Irrelevant to the discussion again.
5. Adventist study - compares people living in the same area, similar genetics, and different diets. Nothing to do with religion. And its a large American study. Adventist literally means religious based "science".
6. China Study - compares healthy and non-healthy. And China did not have 2+ Billion ever! Even a percentage of healthy from a billion is a large number. China has disappeared untold tens of millions of dissidents in the last few years for sure. Again, humans evolved differently. Most Asians are lactose intolerant as an example.
7. Fiber has always been linked to bowel movements. Plus Fat gets absorbed before the gut bacteria eat them. This one is just way too silly to respond to. Learn some basic human biology

1. Meat leads to larger brains; human-like traits could be explained by other theories, such as the use of fire to cook food, which increases nutrient availability. No one knows what people ate thousands of years ago its speculation.
2, https://health.mil/News/Articles/2022/01/10/The-British-Limeys-Were-Right-A-Short-History-of-Scurvy - its on health.mil
3. denial - this is a modern day problem.
4. Is your stomach acid stronger to digest meat? Nope - you need to cook it. Fruit are easily digestible raw and tastes good. You need to garnish meat with plants to make it taste good.
5. Its the name of the study since the religious group promotes not eating meat but has a significant portion that do. Used for comparison. Not sure why you can't move past the name. Is Rhode Island an island to you?
6. I have no idea what your point is? I thought you didn't believe in evolutionary traits. China is not a good country?

No flour, no sugar, no corn syrup, no grains, no seed oils.

You’re eliminating 80% of the American diet or grocery store if you do this but it’s the best diet. You’re still able to eat a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and poultry, as well as eggs and butter and milk. Things that you can get on a farm..

Do you guys remember how in the 90s we were told to eat "fat-free" diet. Now we know how unhealthy that was because people ended up eating a lot of processed carbs and extra sugar. Our bodies needs heathy fats.

Anyway, I have always suspected that the emphasis on protein have led people to over-consume animal fats. I am not a vegetarian by any means but the idea that you can consume a lot of meat and be okay sounds good too be true. And, I have wondered how it can be that our as a society we are bigger than ever (in terms of weight) Obviously, the cause is not any one thing -- stress, sedentary lifestyles, hormones, etc. I know many people who eat a ton of meat, religiously work out, and are carrying a lot of extra weight.

BBC Science has an article about this-- "The Great Protein Myth." Basically, we are over-consuming protein and gaining weight. And food companies are adding protein to everything, and market it accordingly. It's not necessarily healthier just because it is labeled "high protein"

I agree with focusing on getting your carbs from unprocessed sources and avoiding seed oils/corn syrup. I keep Trader Joe's brown rice in the freezer for quick lunches (to eat with lentils or for soups, for example). Bread is my weakness so I buy sourdough from the farmer's market.

I'm on semaglutide and not gaining, but also losing at a snail's pace, I think because of the carb-heavy diet. How do you eat a plant based diet that is not too carb heavy? For instance I absolutely love toast with various things on it (veggies, cheese, vegan spreads I make...), that is my favorite thing to eat.

First of all you cannot have a "balanced plant based diet" that doesn't exist. Nobody with any knowledge ever says it does.
Second of all, fish is meat. Fish are not plants or fungi or bacteria.
Third, you never lose fat on a high carb diet. You can lose weight, and get scrawny, but you will have what they call the "skinny-fat" look, like a marathon runner with drooping skin and weak thin muscles.

Eh, none of this advice is true, except that, yes, fish is meat.

Everything here is very poor advice with a lot of knowledge gaps.

The only thing meat related to obesity is the hormones injected into animals. They are even given Covid vaccines now if you can believe it. The lunacy is astounding.

As far as obesity in general, it is the bolded parts, PLUS too many carbs, especially the really harmful ones like fructose.

Also, too many calories in, not enough expenditure. Not rocket science.

No Need. Just let me know where you are getting your info? like: people who eat only potatoes get scurvy? vitamin C is not necessary. and fat is better than fiber. I made my points and curious to see where you got your info?

6. I have no idea what your point is? I thought you didn't believe in evolutionary traits. China is not a good country?
7. Literally on NIH: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9787832/ and you will disagree with the whole paper because you are a science denier.

Want to try to clarify your rants? You are making very little sense in that list.

No Need. Just let me know where you are getting your info? like: people who eat only potatoes get scurvy? vitamin C is not necessary. and fat is better than fiber. I made my points and curious to see where you got your info?

All I asked are for you sources? I provided 2 of my sources. Nothing obtuse. without sources I can make up stuff like: eating worms at midnight has been scientifically proven to ...

You’re eliminating 80% of the American diet or grocery store if you do this but it’s the best diet. You’re still able to eat a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and poultry, as well as eggs and butter and milk. Things that you can get on a farm..
