Where are you going? Have you paid attention to the collapse of rural areas…because nobody wants to live there.

This part. Where is this utopia? You claim that cities suck which are mostly run by Ds and rural areas suck but they are mostly run by Rs. What's the answer?

FYI, I think cities are great.

I think that the sweet spot is in the close suburbs of a midsize city, preferably one with a college. There will be things to do, it will probably be generally blue, but no appetite for the kinds of progressive urbanization nonsense.

So strange how Americans hate their cities. Since cities are really social hubs where people come together for work and culture, it really reflects how much Americans despise each other.

This! Americans are hostile to or isolated from one another and our cities pay the price for it. Its part of why we're steadily losing global influence to more unified and urbanized nations like China.

lol…you mean to tell us that an ancient and conformist and nearly 100% homogenous society can live in closer quarters than a heterogenous society founded on independence?

*founded on independence for people who are white men who are over the age of 21 and own land.

FTFY

If a PP hadn't already LOLed at the idea of China being a nearly 100% homogeneous society, all 1.4 billion people, I would have LOLed at that too.

In comparison to the US?

Sorry, it’s only 92%.

Do you folks ever get tired of being laughed at?

22. China

Value: 0.154

China projects a high value of racial homogeneity, but some ethnic experts believe that the idea of ethnic homogeneity within the country may be a myth that stems from coercive efforts to homogenize the population. Regardless of that, China is widely perceived as one of the most homogenous countries in the world, with the ‘Han’ making up 92% of the population. The country has 56 official ethnic groups.

Cont,

Can you get out your crayon box and explain how this is related to the conversation in 2024?

Huh? Give an example...but FYI, I guarantee when I research your example, I will find it not to be true.

975 carjackings in DC alone, and few to no consequences for the “juvenile offenders” (juvenile = 25 years-old or younger in DC).

Why would I put my family in that kind of danger on a daily basis by living in DC, when I can commute or telework from somewhere safe/sane ?

Of course you won’t find it to be true because you don’t know enough about real life to understand why that poster is accurate.

Here’s some examples.

1)DC letting traffic scofflaws who rack up tens of thousands in speeding tickets renew and never lose their license. Three people died on rock creek parkway from one driver with $50K in tickets. This little girl was hit and no driver loses license. The reasoning is due to progressive “equity” policies against people losing licenses because it could impact their means of transport to work.

2) Charles Allen and other progressives passive progressive laws like the Second look act or the youth Rehabilitation act. These policies can shield criminal records for “children offenders” who are somehow up to the age of 26. Between that and the abysmal prosecution rate from our USAO and we are the Wild West.

3) allowing the 12 o’clock boys to ride dirt bikes all over the city.

I agree the sweet spot to avoid this type of policy is like is a college area that liberal but also wealthy and is moderate enough to understand that swift and certain punishment for crime will be coming for crime. DC has chosen progressive criminal justice reform which advocates for leniency over incarceration, and tolerance of violence over order, and we are seeing massive spikes in theft and violent crime. It’s not rocket science. It’s clear DC “feels bad” for criminals and will do whatever it takes to shield their records.

There are other examples of progressive policy that suck. Namely education and allowing violent or disruptive students to remain in a classroom and face “restorative justice” rather than removal. Or stopping gifted and talented classes or tracking so effectively advanced and remedial learners are stuck together. Basically progressive policy be it crime or education increase poor behavior and mediocrity.

DC is a great place to live and raise a family. Yes, there's been a recent rough patch thanks to woke policies and rising crime, but I'm confident it will get better again.

Um, those same woke lawmakers and policy groups are still in power and still pushing the same policies. They seem to expand those woke, pro-crime policies, not back away from them. Specifically:

- Charles Allen (he was only forced into a partial repeal; he has not acknowledged any mistakes)
- Nadeau (marches in lockstep with Allen)
- the rest of the council was mostly around for Allen’s antics with his Second Look Act and Youth Rehabilitation Act; none of them are opposed. None.

- the DC Justice Lab
- the Democratic Socialists of America.

And let’s not forget the money behind it all here in DC and nationwide:

- The Open Society Foundations: this group received $18 BILLION (yes, billion) in 2017 to pass woke, pro-crime legislation and fund the election of woke prosecutors who release criminals but spend all their time and resources trying to convict police officers.

Google it: $18 billion in one lump sump.

Well, one thing I was talking about was upzoning, and if this isn’t your first day on the internet, you are probably familiar with it.

Now, go walk to a mirror and look at your stupid face and realize that you are in no position to make guarantee.

What danger? 975 carjackings out of over 400,000,000 yearly vehicle trips is such an infinitesimally small chance as to not even be worth thinking about.

But you do you, have fun cowering in the suburbs while people who understand math enjoy the city.

Hi, I live here. In SE. I can tell the city is going back somewhat to the 80’s. Basically a worse version than was around in the last decade where there is just more crime and lawlessness. It sounds like you live in the suburbs with yard signs but have no clue about this city.

We specifically moved to DC from a higher cost of living city (NY) and wanted the walkability, amenities and convenience of a city without the massive COL increase. We like it here because can still live in a city and have a house with a garden and yet still be steps from everything. Our street is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. Our kid goes to the local school, which has saved us $$$ so far vs private in NY. A lot of people moving in and out, predictably as jobs change, but also a lot of long-term residents and a surprising amount of retirees who just like being able to walk to everything without being stuck in a retirement community in the suburbs. I think people on forums make a lot of noise, but it's different from the reality. And I like to think that we are educated.

We did the suburb thing for 10 years and it wasn't for us, but a lot of people like it, especially if having a spacious home and plenty of parking is a high priority.

Hey dipshit…you said you would move to a blue college town that didn’t have these progressive ideas.

I asked you to name me the blue college town that doesn’t have these progressive ideas…and you provided exactly jack shit which is what I expected.

Seems like I don’t even have to guarantee it because you did it for me.

It also depends where you live in the city. Some parts are incredibly pleasant with great schools. Others are not. It's sad that these woke policies adversely impact those with the most need.
