American cities are in decline because city leaders are generally inept. Now as they collapse leaders in the suburbs want to repeat the same mistakes. Glad I am nearing retirement and will be able to escape the fall of the suburbs.
Where are you going? Have you paid attention to the collapse of rural areas…because nobody wants to live there.
This part. Where is this utopia? You claim that cities suck which are mostly run by Ds and rural areas suck but they are mostly run by Rs. What's the answer? FYI, I think cities are great.
I think that the sweet spot is in the close suburbs of a midsize city, preferably one with a college. There will be things to do, it will probably be generally blue, but no appetite for the kinds of progressive urbanization nonsense.
Huh? Give an example...but FYI, I guarantee when I research your example, I will find it not to be true.
Of course you won’t find it to be true because you don’t know enough about real life to understand why that poster is accurate. Here’s some examples. 1)DC letting traffic scofflaws who rack up tens of thousands in speeding tickets renew and never lose their license. Three people died on rock creek parkway from one driver with $50K in tickets. This little girl was hit and no driver loses license. The reasoning is due to progressive “equity” policies against people losing licenses because it could impact their means of transport to work. 2) Charles Allen and other progressives passive progressive laws like the Second look act or the youth Rehabilitation act. These policies can shield criminal records for “children offenders” who are somehow up to the age of 26. Between that and the abysmal prosecution rate from our USAO and we are the Wild West. 3) allowing the 12 o’clock boys to ride dirt bikes all over the city. I agree the sweet spot to avoid this type of policy is like is a college area that liberal but also wealthy and is moderate enough to understand that swift and certain punishment for crime will be coming for crime. DC has chosen progressive criminal justice reform which advocates for leniency over incarceration, and tolerance of violence over order, and we are seeing massive spikes in theft and violent crime. It’s not rocket science. It’s clear DC “feels bad” for criminals and will do whatever it takes to shield their records. There are other examples of progressive policy that suck. Namely education and allowing violent or disruptive students to remain in a classroom and face “restorative justice” rather than removal. Or stopping gifted and talented classes or tracking so effectively advanced and remedial learners are stuck together. Basically progressive policy be it crime or education increase poor behavior and mediocrity.
