That isn’t what was said. It was said ecnl was going to expand to 60 something teams for champions league. After Seattle, there was too much disparity goal differential wise, so ecnl retracted that and went back down to 48 towards the end of July. |
And that has nothing to do with the number of of champions league places for the mid Atlantic division. |
It’s 44 teams, not 48. I doubt the goal differentials at champions league playoffs vary that much year to year. Sounds like a made up story. Anyway. 44 is plenty. And 4 is plenty for the mid-altlantic. Those numbers seems reasonable. |
Who wants to host that would atract ecnl teams that is not? No one. ecnl teams are not going to play in a local tournament set up by anyone other than the other ecnl clubs. There is also no new money being paid for the MA cup. And who cares is the team loses in the first round? The purpose is exposure in front of college coaches not winning the thing. College coaches could care less who wins and losses an ecnl game -- they are looking at specific players and how they play not hoe the team plays. That team that losses inthe first round gets two other games. That is three games in front of college coaches who go even to those games if they have players they are looking at. |
You don't know what you're talking about. In playoffs there's 50+ recruiters per game watching the top teams play. The barely made it teams might pull in 5-10 recruiters per game. As much as you're trying to push the ECNL party line it's just not true. Recruiters and coaches know which teams win and they prioritize players accordingly. |
We never deserved five spots anyway |
That is not at all the way it works. The 11th girl on a top team is hardly ever better than the 1 on a bad team. During the recruiting years we never had a game at a showcase (except the last day when almost all the coaches go home) where there was not around 100 coaches. As stated above we have had way more. Same at playoffs. Showcase B teams have 80 plus at playoffs. During the recruiting years we never had games with 5-10. We are a mid team. |
Those days are over. With 28 max player rosters it's going to be quality over quantity. Good luck competing with portal players. |
28 max will change nothing except in the margins. You see that playing out now with the 2026 recruiting. It was always quality over quantity. Portal has been an issue for a couple of years with limited impact. For most programs there is no change. People have a view in general that big changes mean big changes. Most times big changes mean no change or quite limited change. For all of the people worried about rostor size, college coaches are not among them. Between injuries, the portal, and girls just quiting playing coaches know that they will have open slots. |
You missed the point. Teams with over 28 players will need to get down to 28. This means there's going to be much more transfer portal players for a couple of years. |
| back to the topic, are these additional games or are they just playing league games at a neutral spot? |
Bonus games that are not at neutral spots. |
You missed the point. That is next season. Coaches are coaching this season. They may not even have a job next season. A team at 35 with for next seasn after you take out the seniors and add the 2025s is likely fine. Why? At least 5 will enter portal. 2 will quit soccer. And 2 will be out for the next season with ACL. That would leave 2 spots to add from portal. Most coaches are not concerned at all. |
| Trying to understand the Cup play and if it changes anything. DC team is #7 in the league play. Does this change what showcase or cup they will play in? How many total go to san diego? Top 8? Champions League, No American Cup Showcase A and Showcase B? or is it 9 with the cup winner? help. |
ECNL still a thing? I thought it merged with NCSL a couple years ago. |
