It sounds like ECNL has created a tournament that has potential to affect league standings. Good if you like ECNL bad if you're a local club that would normally run a tournament on that date.
We are using a tournament for some games. There is no money grab. It's a good opportunity if you're not one of the top teams.
I think you misunderstood what I was highlighting. ECNL has created a tournament type event and provided an incentive for teams to participate. This takes away from local clubs ability to host (and make money from) a tournament. If you like ECNL I'm sure this sounds great. Personally I'd rather see local clubs run tournaments so they get the $$$ to invest into local player development.
I think you don’t get the concept. The games for this event are worked in during the season. Not taking away from anyone to host a tournament. It games that take place over 3-4 days but they are spread out over the season.
Every game outside of league takes away from local clubs ability to run independent tournaments. Maybe instead of forking over $$$ to ECNL you can shovel it. I'll tell you a secret. The team that earns their way into playoffs will lose in in the first round but at least it will be expensive.
Who wants to host that would atract ecnl teams that is not? No one. ecnl teams are not going to play in a local tournament set up by anyone other than the other ecnl clubs. There is also no new money being paid for the MA cup. And who cares is the team loses in the first round? The purpose is exposure in front of college coaches not winning the thing. College coaches could care less who wins and losses an ecnl game -- they are looking at specific players and how they play not hoe the team plays. That team that losses inthe first round gets two other games. That is three games in front of college coaches who go even to those games if they have players they are looking at.
You don't know what you're talking about. In playoffs there's 50+ recruiters per game watching the top teams play. The barely made it teams might pull in 5-10 recruiters per game. As much as you're trying to push the ECNL party line it's just not true. Recruiters and coaches know which teams win and they prioritize players accordingly.
That is not at all the way it works. The 11th girl on a top team is hardly ever better than the 1 on a bad team. During the recruiting years we never had a game at a showcase (except the last day when almost all the coaches go home) where there was not around 100 coaches. As stated above we have had way more. Same at playoffs. Showcase B teams have 80 plus at playoffs. During the recruiting years we never had games with 5-10. We are a mid team.
Those days are over. With 28 max player rosters it's going to be quality over quantity. Good luck competing with portal players.
