When do CAPE/PARCC results come out?

Anonymous
The overall/school/LEA-specific results are clearly available & obviously this means that individual results exist. Our principal claims that they don't actually have them yet though (ES principal).

No, children in other states don’t have their DC CAPE results. It’s a DC-only exam.

'CAPE' is just DC's lame attempt re-brand PARCC, and, yes, kids in other states got their PARCC scores a long time ago.

What other state is still using PARCC? Seriously. My understanding is that the whole reason they rebranded is that DC was the only one left. If there’s 25 states out there still using PARCC, or even 3, it would be nice to know that.

No other states are using them. The poster who talks about "NYC's PARCC scores", is talking about a different test. Not apples to apples. I have no doubt that NYC schools are better than DC schools, but comparison on the basis of PARCC isn't possible as they don't offer it.

Sure, the raw data is all there, but each individual student score report isn't ready yet.

Doubtful. Some people have ask for and received their child's scores.

It's so stupid that we have to wait on schools to release the results. Parents should be able to get them on their own, independently, without having to go through the school.

Yes, the school has a huge spreadsheet full of other people’s children’s sensitive data. Sometimes, if you or (for older students) your child has a good relationship with a teacher or principal, they’ll read you the score off the spreadsheet, as a favor. But they can’t just email the spreadsheet to the listserve. So to get your child’s individual score in writing, you have to wait for the printed score report.

Anyone heard anything further on this from their school? I heard that at least one MS charter had given out scores, but I'm not sure if it's official score reports or something else.

Our DCPS is still saying that it could be months...

I would love for parents to really start questioning DCPS as to what is the point of this test. If it’s to inform parents of how good a school is then the data needs to be available in the early summer/end of school year. If it’s to inform parents and teachers of individual student strengths and weaknesses so they can be supported then they need to get them at the beginning of the school year. It’s honestly a really stupid test with very little meaning to help support students. Just use one of the twenty other tests you make kids take the measure growth (iReady, MAP, reading inventory, etc.)

Anyone gotten these from their school yet? Ours said they expect to send them home in October but no idea when in October. Just curious.

Is it up to the schools to print and mail all the individual score reports? If so, why? That seems like a really inefficient way to disseminate the information, and unnecessarily burdensome for schools.

Yes.
A charter elementary

Some parents have gotten the results, but most haven't. It's a ridiculous system that we have to wait for schools to get around to disseminating them.

I know for a fact that my DC's charter elementary sent them out the day they received them. I got the report this week.

I believe OSSE prints the individual reports and then sends them to the schools, which need to stuff envelopes and mail them. Some schools pass them out at PT conferences.

I agree it’s absurdly inefficient. I believe part of the issue is that no one ever registers or enrolls with OSSE, so OSSE doesn’t have your address and therefore can’t mail you your child’s report.
