Wait, you already got your kid's 2024 test scores? |
No, we were accepted before PARCC testing, but we hadn't seen PARCC testing for 2023 either. The private got something and accepted our kid. It was pretty nerve-wracking having a score sent over that we had no idea what it might be. Must've been good? *shrug* |
DC released the aggregate CAPE test results. When do we receive our children's scores? |
last year we got our childs score in October |
Same. And not early October either. Which seems nuts since to calculate subgroups for each grade for each school, OSSE must have reliable data in hand. |
the schools have your kids results. they just havent given them to you. this is a dc thing. children in other states got their results a long time ago. for whatever reason, dc puts off releasing them. |
We know families in DCPS who have been told their kids' scores, though we haven't gotten ours. |
No, children in other states don’t have their DC CAPE results. It’s a DC-only exam. |
'CAPE' is just DC's lame attempt re-brand PARCC, and, yes, kids in other states got their PARCC scores a long time ago. |
Washington Post:
By Lauren Lumpkin August 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. EDT D.C. students performed slightly better on standardized tests this year than in 2023, newly released data shows, but city leaders say they’re still pushing to get students performing at the same levels they were before the pandemic. When students took exams this spring, 34 percent were meeting or exceeding expectations in reading, up a third of a percentage point from last year. In math, 22.8 percent of children were on grade level — up 0.7 of a point. https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2024/08/22/dc-student-test-scores-academic-recovery/ |
What other state is still using PARCC? Seriously. My understanding is that the whole reason they rebranded is that DC was the only one left. If there’s 25 states out there still using PARCC, or even 3, it would be nice to know that. |
Didn't realize DC public schools are WAAAAY worse than NYC public schools. T The New York Times says of NYC's PARCC scores, "Roughly 53 percent of children in grades three through eight were proficient in math, and about 49 percent showed proficiency in reading." https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/21/nyregion/nyc-math-reading-test-scores.html |
I asked the principal for my kids' 4th grade scores since we moved to a charter, and he had them right on hand. |
Our principal claims not to have them yet. |
