Wait, what? Do they have you use student bathrooms?

Yikes. At least use the single user bathroom then. Don't they need to have those by law?

We can use student bathrooms or single use. The single use are gender neutral, and to be honest those are way grosser than student bathrooms. Students often leave toilets overflowing or vape in them and even pee on the floor. It is absolutely horrible. But I digress! Sorry to hijack OP.

OP, you aren't going to get any advice here, I don't think. People are so focused on the bathroom issue.

but I'm confused - what part of the interaction was caught on tape?

I'm a teacher so I would contact our union, but I don't know if your dad has a union? He probably needs union help to protect himself.

If there IS a tape of the incident you need it straightaway or they will lose it. He needs to show that the other student pushed the kid, not your father. Hopefully catch the boy who is accusing him in a lie.

He may need to go on the offensive to protect his job, I don't know.

Well, he mentions it happening in the bathroom but then says it was recorded. Nobody is recording a bathroom children use. So it’s his word against this child’s word as to what happened in the bathroom, and a more than likely reluctant third party, or the whole thing would be resolved by now. But the bathroom matters. He should have walked right out when the boy walked in.

Blaming the victim. They were also tormenting him outside of the bathroom.

I'm very sorry your father was bullied and teased, these kids should have been disciplined.

However, do you think the school is using this incident as a way to "retire" your father?

What the hell kind of teacher isn’t equipped to handle this? Also, does he not have competent administrators? This whole story seems off, like we are missing a piece of the puzzle. I can’t think of a single colleague of mine who would tolerate this, and neither would our administration. Something smells fishy.

+1. Hopefully it's paid administrative leave, which would be standard.

In a situation like this, an investigation is also standard.

About a year ago the students started teasing him and calling some random name that isn’t his. Last Thursday he was using the restroom in between class periods when one of the boys started calling him this name while he was in the stall. Long story short the student kept threatening to fight my dad and kept asking my dad to hit him. Now according my dad he repeatedly told the boy he wasn’t going to hit him. Another student witnessed what was going on and shoved the other student out of my dad’s way - luckily everything was all caught on video (no audio). This kid immediately went and told a teacher that my dad tried to hit him. They admonished my dad for not telling admin what happened right away. Despite the boy having a history of behavioral issues they told him that he needed to go home. They said they would call and get a statement from him. This was last Thursday and they still haven’t contacted him….

I don’t know why my dad just hasn’t called them himself. I guess he’s afraid to find out? I have a bad feeling that they just won’t call him and let the school year end.

Anyone in admin or a teacher have experience with something like this? What are your thoughts?

Your Dad shoulda beat the daylights outta that kid.

It might’ve been exactly what that little punk needed to turn things around and get him off the path he’s on. Except that didn’t happen.

The best thing that ever happened to me was when I was 15 and got the sh!t kicked out of me when I thought I was a hard little thug. Got my eyes opened for me.

Op here,

The boy is seen on camera in the hallway going into the bathroom after my dad entered the restroom. While inside the bathroom the student kept calling him names and my dad told him to stop, and this is when it escalated. My dad told him he wasn’t going to hit him after he kept asking my dad to him, then my dad walked out of the bathroom and into the hallway. The student follows behind my dad out into the hallway and started to get in my dad’s face. This is when another student came and shoved the boy away from my dad. All of this was caught on camera out in the hallway.

The consequences to the student over this alleged behavior could be tremendous. Kids are young and fragile. A child being disciplined can be very traumatizing and stunt their emotional growth.

Certainly no one wants that.

Can’t your dad just work somewhere else ?

THAT’S the spirit! Worry about the ones creating the problem.

Thank you. It is blowing my mind.

I said in the OP how this kid has documented behavioral issues but yes, my dad is the issue lol.

You mean like how admin tolerated the behavior of the 1st grader who shot the teacher in Va beach after they were told multiple times that he had a gun? Or the other countless stories of students threatening and harassing teachers? Fishy like that?

Since the kids are being mean to him, I think he should apply for other jobs anyway.
