Which clubs should get MLSNext?

Dumbest comment ever.

Prob scared that addl competition will squeeze out their DS from their academy perch.

Cities outside of the US comparable in size to the DMV area can sustain a few soccer clubs. There are many players in this area not on DCU that are as good and will find a way to maximize their soccer potential.

More competition is good!

I agree with this!

A lot of the kids on SYC left other MLS Next clubs and are now happy at SYC

Seems a lot more emotions than logic in this retort

Many think players scouted and not selected by DCU are "as good" as who were selected. Opinion.
Just remember, DCU doesn't choose lightly which kids to invest tens of thousands of dollars per year.
They also have more than just current performance on their criteria list. Future exceptional performance potential is important, along with their other requirements.

That said, there definitely has to be more than just MLS Professional Academies in MLS Next, since there's only about 28 of them in the country.

It used to be like that until MLS Next got created. Now those academy teams have more teams they can play against. Why would they go back to only playing amongst themselves.

FVU now that they are essentially the Eastern and Northern Fairfax County soccer club for ECNL. Makes the most sense even if they don’t have a track record yet. The recruiting ground they cover is rich.

Rich with players who have gone to Arlington and SYC.

You are missing how this is done. If MLSNext continues to be ont he path it is on -- it will add 5 clubs in this area in the next 3 years. It's grow or die.

Die and be replaced by what?
What's going to replace MLS league?

SYC picks up players that have been developed from other clubs. Their focus is not to develop players, it is to win.

Every club other than our kid's club has a roster filled with massive giants

Look, SYC does pick some very large picks relative to other clubs, but they've also developed highly talented players who are smaller in stature. This is a function of coach preference and is pretty evident on some top teams.

The people who complain the most about this are often the parents with larger kids, who think their kid's team is losing because it is smaller than other teams. But that is generally not the reason those teams may be losing.

What planet are you from?

MLS Next exists to funnel talent into MLS.

They don't care if non Academy clubs are competitive. All they care about is finding homegrown talent that can potentially play at the professional level.

This is why everyone in MLSN talks about development not wins. It's all about making your way onto the professional team. That's all that matters.

By what?
MLS Next is run by the top professional league and involves the professional clubs academies with a direct pathway to Major League Soccer and professional soccer.

So what will replace that, a lower level youth league?

second that, include SYC

Are the SYC teams also always in the bottom 3?

All SYC teams qualified to MLS Playoffs, they are the only club in the DMV to have every team qualify

This makes sense. FVU is only older ECNL teams. It is not a “club” per se, but a joint venture among three clubs (McLean, Vienna and BRYC). Assuming the top players from those 3 clubs funnel into FVU, their teams should be very good, but it is too early to tell whether the concept will work as well as it looks on paper.
