Laziest post ever. Thanks for adding nothing. I wish the "Thanks [insert coach's name]" posts would stop. The posts spring up whenever anyone says anything positive, or in this case comparatively positive (?), about a coach or club they don't like. |
I found it funny...so there's that. |
I was just getting ready to say the same about DS’s HS coach. It’s shameful that he gets to keep his job. It’s no secret how he yells at and berates his players, even resorting to name calling. The AD has witnessed it. The only option is for players to quit. I know mine is strongly considering not returning. |
Please explain what makes Solar the most successful club in the US? How does criticism within itself help to make a player at any sport better? |
Ummmm, their record, ECNL Championships and how many players they put into the USYNT system. It's not rocket science. As for your second question, please ask Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Simone Biles, Carli Lloyd, Raphael Nadal, Michael Phelps, Ronaldo, any Brazilian Futbol player, but would probably defer to Sir Alex Ferguson first. Vince Lombardi is dead so I guess you can ask Bill Belichek or Phil Jackson too. If this list does not sway you, I suggest you check into your local mental hospital for extreme narcissism. Thanks, 99% of all Hall of Fame Athletes |

Oh cool. Was Michael Phelps's youth soccer coach a big yeller? |
All the recent USYNT rosters are filled with 99.988% MLS Club Academy players (see: CONCACAF champions and U17 World Cup and rosters for friendlies). So that doesn't jive with your Solar claim. You're claiming Solar over FC Dallas, Philly Union, NY Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake? The question was, how does critique within itself help an athlete to be better? All of Phil Jackson's players talk about the Triangle Offence and his Zen approach with meditation. Where is it noted he leaned on criticism as his primary coaching tool? |

There are coaches who yell to get attention of the players or trying to make them better with their knowledge and passion of the game.
There are coaches who berate the player and screaming and yelling just because. You have to be able to separate the 2. I don’t mind those who yell at my kid when she messes up or expecting more or challenging her. U have to be able to separate the message and the tone. If you and your kid never wants to get yell at and want coach to only speak to you nicely, elite level of any sport isn’t a place for you. People will walk away from the same coach with different experience. |
Was not talking about the Boys side. Was talking about the Girls side. So sorry, Solar is best Girls Club in US. And yes, the coaches are screamers. |
"We often know that Bowman is a tough coach, and most of them left his training programs. Thus, one of those intense training programs was making difficult situations so that the swimmer could learn if any untoward incidents happened" "When Bob Bowman was coaching the world’s greatest swimmer, he’d be the first to concede he was not a very nice person at the pool. Screaming, berating and belittling were an accepted part of the package." It should be noted that BB has since changed his mantra. |

Don't complain about coaches who yell. If it's not for you or your kid, you know where to find the door and hopefully a coach that is a better fit. Nobody is making you stay.
Where you all cross a line is when you think you know what's better for other families by posting nonsense on anonymous forums. |
I wonder how many of you would tolerate a math, english, science, chemistry etc teacher at your kid's school screaming and berating your kid because they responded incorrectly to a question? |
Are you suggesting Solar is the best club BECAUSE the coaches are screamers? |
| Solar is in a different position. Players literally move there from all over the country because they are so well known and connected. My dog could coach their team and have success because the players are all spectacular and doing all kinds of training on their own. Screaming does nothing to help those players. |
