Why does the GOP deserve my vote?

Open borders is a republican talking point.... I would love to know what someone thinks open borders actually means... Like we have a large gate that we just open up.... We remove all personnel from the border because if I remember correctly that's what the GOP is doing with their stripped down budget

No one. Well except the right wing groups that are the ones who are doing the actual drug running and child sex slaving.

There is nothing that Biden, Democrats in the House and Senate, or Democratic Governors and other state officials have done that should bother any actual moderate. Not one thing. Every policy has majority support.

Disagree. I am a moderate independent, and blame Biden for abuse of executive orders (I also blame pretty much every 20th and 21st century president for this). I blame all of Congress for the current budget deficit and failure to control immigration. I blame Obama for violating American citizens' rights to due process by ordering targeted drone strikes on them. I blame everyone in government for allowing the NSA to spy on American citizens without warrants. There are lots of things that bother me about both major parties.

The executive order thing is mostly ceremonial, but it wouldn't be necessary if we had a functioning congress, but the GOP hasn't been interested in actual governance since the 1980's, so...

How so?

You may start with the Democrat radical agenda to swing our borders open. Who in our lifetime— or in American history —has done anything like this?

We don't have open borders and the myriad threads claiming as such is simply BS. Does the US need immigration reform? Yes. Does the GOP have any actual solutions? No.

So move along, because the GOP is kowtowing to the businesses who want the slave labor and the politicians who want it as a wedge issue. Meanwhile, the "wall" has mostly rusted out and didn't do a darned thing to keep a single person out of the US illegally.

Post their statements saying that.

They’re constantly going on about how bad Biden is, but all I see is the GOP blocking action and actively damaging the country.

So here are my issues:
Abortion: never needed one, never sought one but this is my hill to die on. Forcing women to give birth and then punishing them forever with the child and absolutely zero help is unconscionable. Doing so based on one group’s religious beliefs not only makes women second class citizens, but it erases the Constitutionally demanded separation of church and state. How does the GOP square this with their claims of originalism and respecting the documents? Why should I, an intelligent woman, give my vote to the party that promises a national ban on abortion and teases a ban on birth control for good measure?

The American Experiment: I’m a flag waving dork for America. I love our goofy melting pot, I cry at naturalization ceremonies. I love my country. I love the promise of democracy. I love that the government isn’t supposed to ban books, that we are supposed to have the freedom of speech. What is the GOP doing to rectify their fascism/authoritarianism? Are they finally going to address all the ways they cheat at elections? Why should I, a proud American, have to wonder if they’re ever going to do the right thing in regards to getting the treason out of their party? (And are they ever going to do right by the military? I never see them actually support the military in anything other than the most trite way.)

The environment: global warming and habitat loss are real and neither is happening because of “natural cycles,” they’re happening because of human activity, and just a few big businesses are the most of that. Storms are getting bigger, droughts longer lasting, the pollinators and the birds are a fraction of what they were even a few years ago. The temperature keeps rising. If the GOP wants my vote, what are they going to do to ameliorate this? They’re the reason nothing has been done so far, so why should I give them my vote?

Two of the pet issues of the moderates and independents seem to be inflation and immigration but neither of those issues bothers me and if they were real issues, I don’t see the GOP offering any actual solutions.

So let me know, Republicans and so called moderates and independents, why does your party deserve my vote? Can you make a case for the GOP based on what’s important to me. And can you do it without whatabouting/“both sides”-ing?

You're not a Republican.

In a sane world, this particular Trump GOP will die and whither. And a new center-right party will rise and be interesting and offer some real world solutions to real world problems.

But that's not happening today.

This generation of Republicans needs to get wrecked. Only then, can we have sane, smart, empathetic center-right folks who are actually useful

But this generation of the GOP needs to get destroyed in the meantime. So that's where the focus needs to be for the time being.

What concrete efforts to improve people's lives (not billionaires) does the GOP support?

The Republicans are talking about open borders the way they used to talk about Obamacare..... After how many decades they have no plan that is any better than Democrats. So until they actually show me something worth voting for they are not getting it

Nobody has done anything like that, including the Democrats you are fecklessly railing against, you liar. The OP kindly requested that you stop clogging up the thread with garbage.

Do better.

Deny deny deny. Sick stuff

The GOP can't keep government running, have no workable solutions to the border issues, and are putting women's and children's lives at risk to pander to the GOP / MAGA base. There is no reason to vote for them, unless you hate black people, women, lgbt people, etc...

The GOP had plenty to say about Fetterman’s clothing choices.

I’ve tried to respond on numerous threads and words are blocked, phrases are blocked, posts are deleted. What’s the point?

Maybe try not to post racist or offensive content.

So you have nothing of substance to say.

It's really just soothsaying for their base. They want to feel superior to migrants and other POC illegal immigrants and it gives them one of the few talking points that "their team is better at". Is the border a problem? Yeah, it's not great. I'd prefer to have better deterrents so that we don't get burdened with refugees. But do I want to be cruel the way the Trump administration was? No way.

+1

To me, this is what it boils down to.

The GOP complained about Hillary's emails and Benghazi, but never offer policy solutions, other than tax cuts, which frankly, don't help most people. What I see the regular Americans concerned with are how to help their parents manage old age, how to afford an education for their kids, how to ensure we have clean air and water so our grandchildren have a viable planet to inhabit.

The stuff the GOP grievances on does nothing to help the day to day struggles of most of the people I know.

Ironically, Obamacare IS the republican health plan. And the parts of it that don't work, will never work, because it is the GOP plan. We really need to switch to single payer/universal healthcare with government subsidies for R&D to big Pharma.
