OP. No, I’m a Moderate. No one has. You disliking my post isn’t me trolling and the lack of answers for why I should positively vote for the Republican Party is an answer.

No, you’re not a moderate. You said up front you’ve voted Democratic your entire life. You listed the three things you care about, which match exactly with Democratic Party positions. You are not a moderate, you are a loyal lifelong Democrat. We can all see the truth, no matter how much you scrabble around to try to hide it.

If I can see the truth, and I will never, ever vote Republican, I don’t see why any actual Republican would even engage.

Those are moderate positions because they are held by the majority of Americans.

How do you determine the majority of Americans support your position? Are you studying polls?

On abortion, for example, a recent poll finds that half do not support abortion beyond 15 weeks and two thirds think it should be banned after 24 weeks. If you support after 15 weeks you are not with the majority and, thus, by your definition, your position is not moderate.

I’m not OP but the majority of Americans believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases. https://apnorc.org/projects/most-americans-support-legal-abortion-with-some-restrictions-ap-norc/

Your own link shows that 51% support up to 15 weeks, but only 27% up to 24 weeks. Am guessing OP supports beyond 15 weeks, putting her into the minority.

OP.

For a non Republican voter, that pp is taking my post very personally. It seems to bother her in particular and the Republican voters in general, but my views are in the majority. Most Americans understand the global warming is real and needs to be addressed, most Americans think the rule of law should be upheld and that a party should not commit treason and most people think abortion should be safe, legal and accessible. Whereas the Republican Party says global warming isn’t real and if it is it’s not because of anything that humans have done, that treason is defensible and that abortion should be illegal nationwide.

The answer to my question has been supplied: the Republican Party offers moderates like me nothing at all. This thread offered lots of personal attacks and attacks on this thread, but not a single person could make an argument for why a moderate like me should cast a vote for any Republican Party candidate.

Lord knows they won’t message better.

That still doesn’t change the point that OPs stated position on abortion is not moderate because it is not shared by most Americans. And that’s using OPs own incorrect definition of moderate.

Most Americans support abortion rights

https://www.axios.com/2023/07/12/most-americans-support-abortion-poll

You can quibble over 15 weeks, or the Roe standard, or whatever. The Republicans have BANNED abortion in the states where they have the ability to do so, which is NOT what most Americans support. In fact, YOU are in the minority - not OP, who gave the barest outline of her beliefs, including the right to choose.

It’s the new Republican talking point and line of attack. Paint democrats as extreme on abortion, that includes lying about “post birth abortions” and pretending that 15 weeks is the same a Roe. It’s not. Not by almost 10 weeks. Not by almost trimester, but here we are.
Democrats obviously aren’t fighting back and allowing them to do it, because water is wet.

I’m the PP who won’t vote Republican who is pointing out that you aren’t a moderate and that it’s rational for Republicans to see through you. Disagreement and pointing out facts/quotes from your own posts is not “taking things very personally.” Goodness, what a weird take to have on a message board.

To be totally candid, your bizarre posts in this thread are a mini advertisement for not voting for Democrats, which is actually my real worry in this election. I am worried that Democrats have become so overall bizarre and weird that people will just stay home rather than vote. Democrats depend on turnout, but as a party they allow their messaging to be dominated by an increasingly unhinged progressive wing, and so as a party they just sound weirder and weirder. You are online with that shift, OP, but I think bizarre theatrics like yours do not help the overall cause.

I’m genuinely worried that Trump will win again. Actually, I think there is a good chance of it, and it’s because Democrats can’t keep the increasingly insane progressive wing under control. Posts like yours, OP, where you pretend you’re a moderate but people can see the truth, are a subset of what’s happening in the party as a whole. And that sort of gaslighting across the party as a whole is going to put Trump back in office.

You are way overthinking this. Basically OP’s post is “I’m a normal American with the following views, which are shared by most normal Americans. Why should I vote for a Republican?” And there have been zero answers from Republicans.

Because they know OP is transparently a liar, and people of all political persuasions don’t like to answer to demands from liars, generally. Why are you defending OPs behavior? It’s the kind of behavior that is causing people to walk away from the Democrats, this weird combination of demands and gaslighting. It’s very off-putting.
