I’m an actual moderate American, which means I’ve always voted Democratic for my entire voting history, but I read a lot of people on here who claim to be either Independents or Moderates and they seem to think that the Democrats are as bad as the Republicans and that the Republicans are entitled to my vote. They’re constantly going on about how bad Biden is, but all I see is the GOP blocking action and actively damaging the country.
So here are my issues: Abortion: never needed one, never sought one but this is my hill to die on. Forcing women to give birth and then punishing them forever with the child and absolutely zero help is unconscionable. Doing so based on one group’s religious beliefs not only makes women second class citizens, but it erases the Constitutionally demanded separation of church and state. How does the GOP square this with their claims of originalism and respecting the documents? Why should I, an intelligent woman, give my vote to the party that promises a national ban on abortion and teases a ban on birth control for good measure? The American Experiment: I’m a flag waving dork for America. I love our goofy melting pot, I cry at naturalization ceremonies. I love my country. I love the promise of democracy. I love that the government isn’t supposed to ban books, that we are supposed to have the freedom of speech. What is the GOP doing to rectify their fascism/authoritarianism? Are they finally going to address all the ways they cheat at elections? Why should I, a proud American, have to wonder if they’re ever going to do the right thing in regards to getting the treason out of their party? (And are they ever going to do right by the military? I never see them actually support the military in anything other than the most trite way.) The environment: global warming and habitat loss are real and neither is happening because of “natural cycles,” they’re happening because of human activity, and just a few big businesses are the most of that. Storms are getting bigger, droughts longer lasting, the pollinators and the birds are a fraction of what they were even a few years ago. The temperature keeps rising. If the GOP wants my vote, what are they going to do to ameliorate this? They’re the reason nothing has been done so far, so why should I give them my vote? Two of the pet issues of the moderates and independents seem to be inflation and immigration but neither of those issues bothers me and if they were real issues, I don’t see the GOP offering any actual solutions. So let me know, Republicans and so called moderates and independents, why does your party deserve my vote? Can you make a case for the GOP based on what’s important to me. And can you do it without whatabouting/“both sides”-ing? |

| Because Hunter Biden's penis reads groomer stories to kids at library drag shows on the Mexican border. Or something. |
And corporate tax cuts, don't forget corporate tax cuts! |
|
Do you want open borders, OP?
If yes, don’t vote Republican. |
OP here. No, I’m serious. If Republicans, Moderates and Independents are going to say that a vote for the Democrats and the Republicans are the same thing and will yield the same results, I want them to give me a real reason to vote for the GOP. How are my issues, which aren’t exactly niche, going to be addressed by the GOP? |
DP. The border crisis wasn’t solved under a Republican President from 2020-2024. What are the real, actionable proposals that the GOP is putting forward on the border, that don’t include pandering to the corporate interests benefiting from illegal immigrant labor? |
Please read my OP and respond thoughtfully. Don’t clot up the thread with garbage. |
Putting barbed wire in the Rio Grande. |
| Moderates have little choice but to vote Democrat. Democrats have not run a "left-wing" presidential candidate since McGovern in 1972. The Democrats are a moderate liberal party with a progressive wing. Republicans are dominated by the hard right and there are virtually no moderate Republicans left. |
Bingo! |
| I’m not voting for anyone who thinks open border, fentanyl flood and sex slaves are a good idea. Who would do that? |
|
Why is this thread so quiet?
The GOP had plenty to say about Fetterman’s clothing choices. |
| The GOP will never deserve a politician..... They are loyal forever.... It doesn't matter if you're a rapist or a child molester or a murderer. They will still support you in your bid for nomination and will still vote for you.... Try to find that loyalty on the Democrat side |

Democrats govern as moderates. It is a coalition party with a lively left wing pushing liberal solutions to liberal issues but the ultimate policy positions enacted are always moderated out of political necessity. There is nothing that Biden, Democrats in the House and Senate, or Democratic Governors and other state officials have done that should bother any actual moderate. Not one thing. Every policy has majority support.
We have moderate government whenever Democrats are in charge. Any complaints should be coming from the left, not from the center. You couldn’t ask for a more moderate government than this one. |
