Why does the GOP deserve my vote?

For a non Republican voter, that pp is taking my post very personally. It seems to bother her in particular and the Republican voters in general, but my views are in the majority. Most Americans understand the global warming is real and needs to be addressed, most Americans think the rule of law should be upheld and that a party should not commit treason and most people think abortion should be safe, legal and accessible. Whereas the Republican Party says global warming isn’t real and if it is it’s not because of anything that humans have done, that treason is defensible and that abortion should be illegal nationwide.

The answer to my question has been supplied: the Republican Party offers moderates like me nothing at all. This thread offered lots of personal attacks and attacks on this thread, but not a single person could make an argument for why a moderate like me should cast a vote for any Republican Party candidate.

I’m the PP who won’t vote Republican who is pointing out that you aren’t a moderate and that it’s rational for Republicans to see through you. Disagreement and pointing out facts/quotes from your own posts is not “taking things very personally.” Goodness, what a weird take to have on a message board.

To be totally candid, your bizarre posts in this thread are a mini advertisement for not voting for Democrats, which is actually my real worry in this election. I am worried that Democrats have become so overall bizarre and weird that people will just stay home rather than vote. Democrats depend on turnout, but as a party they allow their messaging to be dominated by an increasingly unhinged progressive wing, and so as a party they just sound weirder and weirder. You are online with that shift, OP, but I think bizarre theatrics like yours do not help the overall cause.

I’m genuinely worried that Trump will win again. Actually, I think there is a good chance of it, and it’s because Democrats can’t keep the increasingly insane progressive wing under control. Posts like yours, OP, where you pretend you’re a moderate but people can see the truth, are a subset of what’s happening in the party as a whole. And that sort of gaslighting across the party as a whole is going to put Trump back in office.

You are way overthinking this. Basically OP’s post is “I’m a normal American with the following views, which are shared by most normal Americans. Why should I vote for a Republican?” And there have been zero answers from Republicans.

Because they know OP is transparently a liar, and people of all political persuasions don’t like to answer to demands from liars, generally. Why are you defending OPs behavior? It’s the kind of behavior that is causing people to walk away from the Democrats, this weird combination of demands and gaslighting. It’s very off-putting.

^^ THIS!

How is OP a liar? She didn't say, "I used to vote Democrat but I am SO UPSET at the BORDER that I am considering voting for a Republican in the next election. I am having a hard time making that leap even though the DEMS are driving ME away with their insistance that every schoolkid change genders at least once a week! Can you help me see my way to voting for a Republican? Traditionally I have cared about abortion access, the environment, and defeating lizard people. Tks." This wasn't some stupid I'M a mODerAte post - she was just asking Republicans why some normie middle of the road voter should give them a look. And they lost their minds over it.

I’m sure Trump appreciates your and OPs campaigns for him. Nice of you to contribute to the Republican cause.

“I’m voting for an authoritarian because someone was mean to me on the mommy-interweb-grumbleboard.”
Suck it

You are irrational, so I don’t know why I’m engaging, as it’s rather pointless, but obviously what OP is doing is part of a pattern of behavior writ large that normal people see with Democrats.

Look, keep being crazy if you want. The fact is that Democrats depend on turnout, and antics like OPs are just part a general picture that a lot of people are getting of the Democratic Party. We need people to vote, but if people believe the Democrats are as crazy as the Republicans are, they won’t vote.

I think a Trump presidency could potentially spell the end of our republic, FWIW. But I’m also a realist and I don’t play games like pretend (badly) to be a moderate and the aggressively demand answers from people who can easily see I’m lying. That’s just some gaslighting nonsense.

Oh so “just asking questions” is only for some people. Got it.
Op’s issues aren’t “pretend” moderate.
They’re F@€#ing moderate. Stop ceding the middle ground. Op hasn’t been aggressive.

Christ almighty. I can't imagine having such little conviction in my beliefs that some anonymous posters on a forum for mommies in the DC area prevent me from explaining why I vote the way that I do. That's pathetic.

To be fair, they have explained why they vote the way they do - border, something something, Biden is old, AOC is annoying, they are actually anti-choice, etc. They just can't explain why a moderate would vote for an R. Which is telling!

I keep coming back to this, because I am so struck by it - but it worked in Virginia. Youngkin got a bunch of moderates to vote for him, even though everyone with a brain knew he was going to enact as much conservative nonsense as he possibly could including doing whatever was possibly to take away abortion rights. There is an opening, sometimes, for enough moderates, that Rs could do this if they wanted to. But - I don't know. This thread is so weird.

I think this thread illustrates that many people think moderate is synonymous with conservative. They may not realize it explicitly, but it’s there.
“Here’s why that’s bad for democrats”
But seriously it’s actually really not great for democrats.

One of the reasons normal people are pulling away from the Democratic Party is their full-throated embrace of casual misogyny, FYI. Perhaps try to at least hide how much you hate mothers?

But seriously it’s actually really not great for democrats.

Conservatives have a history of assuming they’re the majority when they’re not. Here’s the delusions of the Tea Party (equivalent of today’s MAGA) ten years ago:
“An overwhelming majority of Tea Party supporters, 84 percent, say the views of the Tea Party movement reflect the views of most Americans. But Americans overall disagree: Just 25 percent say the Tea Party movement reflects their beliefs.”

“I have the strongest most fantastic reasons for voting Republican! They are ready to go and we will reveal them in 2 weeks!”

"As long as those meanie heads who I am pretty sure are only pretending to be moderates aren't the ones asking me!!"

Christ almighty. I can't imagine having such little conviction in my beliefs that some anonymous posters on a forum for mommies in the DC area prevent me from explaining why I vote the way that I do. That's pathetic.

One of the reasons normal people are pulling away from the Democratic Party is their full-throated embrace of casual misogyny, FYI. Perhaps try to at least hide how much you hate mothers?

What on Earth are you talking about?

Read your post again and have a good hard think. I realize your hatred of women, mothers specifically, may make it impossible to see the glaring misogyny that shines out of your writing, but try.

So there's nothing there, you're just desperate to get in what you perceive to be a witty repartee. Got it, thanks.

Oh, that wasn’t witty repartee. It was stating facts. You are a dismissive misogynist and part of a crowd of misogynists that have overrun the progressive Democrats.

Whatever. You people seem to be working hard to elect Trump and are doing a good job at it.

Look, just because you’ve internalized dismissive misogyny doesn’t mean the rest of us have to do so. Though, admittedly, that does seem to be the position progressive Democrats are taking these days, so you are definitely representing your political position well.
