Not the OP but I feel similarly. The progressive left pushes me more toward the center. I will never cross the center line, but it's very off-putting within the Democratic party to be demonized by the very vocal far left. Criticism from your own group is more difficult than dealing with out-group folks (Republicans). |
| This isn’t just Virginia…Democrats pushing people center is their MO right now. The party is still hanging in there mostly because of abortion (and a few other nutty right wing positions, but I think they’d get a pass if abortion wasn’t such a big issue). |
Gosh, you mean your guy who creeps on camera? Disgusting. |
Still seems better than an attempted coup and multiple criminal indictments, but you know best. |
LOL. No. Next time, try lying better. |

I am what I consider a moderate Dem, if moderate means anything nowadays. While I don't read/follow Blue Virginia, I'm solidly blue, because I believe in healthcare and fewer gun deaths. I am not by any stretch of the imagination anywhere near this Republican party.
But I do find some of the far left Dem talking points to be beyond my personal political preference, and it makes me less inclined to go above and beyond the minimum of voting. |
I am what some consider a "party insider." Blue Virginia is just an extension ow Lowell's personal politics. Some of it is good but a lot isn't. |

I still think “defund the police” was an astroturfed trend pushed by dark money conservatives groups on social media. They found a few black people who posted about it on Twitter and then used bot networks to make it seem like it was a plank of the Democratic Party.
Crazy how it took off and then mainstream individuals were debating an inorganic topic pushed by bots. |

“ I find that the account/blog push me further to the center/right simply because the personal attacks on anyone who doesn’t align with BV’s progressive brand are so intense.”
You mean why Glen Youngkin won in 2021? Maybe because schools stayed closed for over a year and the priority was about bathrooms and racist racial theory. Then two girls are assaulted, Loudon covers it up, the left said it didn’t happen, and calls anyone who says otherwise a terrorist. |
Defund the Police is literally what many Democrats verbatim around the country were running on. Then some recanted and said what they really meant wasn’t defund the police, but rather…defunding the police by reducing their funding. It only sounds inorganic, robotic, and stupid because it is. |
Creeps on camera? You mean Trump creeping on his own daughter? Or creeping behind Clinton at the debates? Surely, that's the creep. |
Nope, it came out of the Democratic Socialists of America platform. Their "demands" for the "abolition" of the "carceral state" are: -Defund the police by rejecting any expansion to police budgets or scope of enforcement while cutting budgets annually towards zero -End the criminalization of working-class survival -Freedom for all incarcerated people -Demilitarize the police and end colonial policing of our cities and neighborhoods -Freedom of working-class self-organization and democratic political action -Invest in community self-governance and care, not cops https://www.dsausa.org/working-groups/abolition-working-group/ |
I hear the same thing from my suburban friends, it wasn't really a policy, just a slogan. But defund the police occurred in DC, they are way understaffed and violent crime has surged. Continuing on the theme from above, I consider myself to be fairly liberal but these far left policies hurt the communities they were supposed to have helped. |
Then why is crime also up in areas without those policies or politics? Open your eyes. |
| America is a center-left country. Virginia is a center-left state. |
