It's sad that people accept without question that it's okay for people to live in terror of being out on the town at closing time for bars. SF will not be able to have a normal economy if the streets are too dangerous for even a tech founder.

Sorry any American city at 2am on a weeknight is sketch. We don’t have the all hour pedestrian traffic like European cities, so if you are out and that late, it will be you and any rogue elements alone.

Surprised a father of two young daughters even bothers going out that late — between the time change from Miami and SF it will really mess with your internal clock and make you useless upon return

How is this ignorant statement than: "Sorry any woman wearing a short skirt and low cut top with no bra deserves to be raped" HOW is it different?!

So you're blaming the victim. Can we also blame the woman who decided to go walk her dog at night and instead was raped? I mean, what was she doing outside that time of night! She got what she deserved, according to your flawed way of thinking.

I think the poster comparing European cities with their foot traffic and American cities “where nobody but rogue elements really walk on foot” is spot on. Never thought about it like that. It’s sad. SF is worse than many cities but could have happened anywhere in a US city

We have stopped having empathy for victims. This is systemic. They would also blame the rape victim if her rape was politically inconvenient.

Listen in some states you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet. ATVs are popular in my home town. People die often in these scenarios. They weren’t acting illegally, but you recognize they took a larger risk than is generally recommended and discuss that.

It’s not like the rise in crime in SF is a secret.

I actually suspect it was a hit related to recent crypto scandals.

It does seem very premature to blame the uptick in random violence.

My parents both reside in SF.
And I couldn’t agree any more w/the above post.

I do not think this crime can only occur in Frisco.
I believe that the crime itself is not unique only to the area.

Do your parents know you use that word?
