San Franciso reparations

The net worth of the median white family in San Francisco is considerably more than $50,000.
Also, the number of black families is much lower than the number of white families.
It is a good idea to have Democrat run cities pay these reparations. Especially since many of these cities drive up prices and cause blacks to move out in the first place.

Oh, the irony. Suddenly the right wing hates the idea of wealth and prosperity.

I seriously hope SF does this. It will be fun to watch the fallout. You get what you vote for.

As long as we are talking about reparations, we should also go ask the Italian government for reparations since the Romans enslaved millions of people from many different races and ethnicities.

Yes, exactly. And also because Christopher Columbus initiated the abuse and extermination of indigenous people.

Did anyone vote away the U.S. Constitution?

But this is what rich liberals want, right?

Anyone who is for the reparations is stupid. Period.

Prior to 1850, California was not under U.S. rule, and Mexican law, which prohibited slavery, was used in the case. September 9, 1850, California became a Union State and subject to the Fugitive Slave Law of 1850. Also, only during the 1849 gold rush did California even have to deal with the issue of slavery, and prior to that the American Indians were closer to slaves in California than Blacks were?

"a large number of slave-owning Southerners had travelled to California to seek their fortunes in the 1849 Gold Rush, and many brought their slaves."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_slavery_in_California

But, if you really feel that reparations should be paid by future generations, then can children of murder victims be reimbursed by the children of murderers?

Billions given to Japanese Americans.

What happened to Japanese Americans was atrocious and not enough gets talked about it.

Would you have preferred they not received reparations? Or are Asian Americans not allowed to complain? They only received $20,000 each, and it was only given to people who directly suffered from internment.

20k in 1992 after internment 1942-1945. so 50 years later for 3years of internment per 20k, adjusted for. in 2019 it was 400 years since the first slave ship (1619) was brought into the US and then we will go through proclamation we will say, which was 1865 so 250 years of slavery.

250/3= 83.3x20k= 1666000 would be the equivalent for survivors of slavery 50 years past abolition so find all the slaves who were still alive in 1905 and pay to their descendants.

cool?

Reparations are much easier to justify when it’s paid directly to the living survivors of the harm. Roughly 40,000 Japanese Americans internees died before the Civil Liberties Act was passed and didn’t get anything.

Will they take the money from descendents of blacks who enslaved other blacks?

Chinatown was burned down in SF and the single largest lynching event in US history was against Chinese in Los Angeles. CA never had slaves, but they sure as crap oppressed Asians. In fact, read the inaugural speech of Stanford when he became governor in which he calls Asians a ‘degraded’ people:

Where are Asian reparations?

Ethnic Japanese people were also literally kept in labor camps. In some families, US soldiers of Japanese descent went to fight in the US military and their wives and children were sent to labor camps. Shameful. Many of the victims are still alive today. No one is rallying to pay them.

????They did get reparations--though it was peanuts. In 1988.
